From the Principal

I am amazed daily by the hard work and dedication of the teachers at Sacred Heart, as well as the smiles, motivation, and energy of our students.

In the midst of a global pandemic, our school community is doing their part to make each and every student safe and provide them with the best opportunities to learn and grow. As a diocese, we started this school year with a 100% in-person model. As explained at the beginning of the school year, an asynchronous option is available for students who are in quarantine because of exposure, illness, or travel. This allows teachers to provide optimal instruction to students in the classroom while allowing students in quarantine to remain on track with their classes until they return to the building. Our hope is to minimize the amount of students in quarantine by distancing as much as possible within classrooms and wearing masks consistently and correctly. The diocese will revisit these policies and procedures monthly and adjust as needed.

I understand that families are concerned for their children's safety, as well as their social and academic well-being, and I am available to answer any questions or concerns you may have. Thank you for your continued patience, support, and prayers, especially to those students and families directly impacted by the virus.

Sincerely,

Erin Mascaro

Principal

Schedule & Guidelines

  • A hard copy of the Parent Lunch Volunteer Schedule will not be distributed to families. Instead it will be sent out via email and linked to the monthly school newsletter.

After School Program

The After School is in full swing! Some important details to note:

  • Ms. Christina Narduzzi is the Program Director

  • Students go to the cafeteria from 3:00–3:20 p.m. to grab a snack. You can send a snack from home or send money to purchase a snack in the cafeteria.

  • After snack, the children are then escorted to the gym (Monsignor Keane Activities Building) on Alder Street where they have play time in the gymnasium or outside in the DePaul School Playground behind the gym on Emerson Street (weather dependent).

  • Students should be picked up no later than 6:00 p.m.

  • The cost is $6.00/hour per child.

  • Request a form from the office and inform your child’s homeroom teacher that they will be attending the after school program.

  • Billing is monthly through a childcare management software called Procare. Ms. Narduzzi provides access to this software/app when you begin using the after school program.

Attendance Procedures

These standard forms stress communication and safety, both highly valued for the good order of the school.

  • The Daily Dismissal Plan form should be completed, one per child, and returned to the office by September 15. This form establishes a base for your child’s regular dismissal pattern for the year.

  • A Change in Dismissal Form should be used to communicate any change in your child’s regular dismissal plan. This completed form should be emailed to [email protected]. All dismissal changes must be received by 1:30 on the day of the designated dismissal change.

  • Please use the Absentee Form to report your child absent. This completed form should be emailed to [email protected]. All absentee report forms must be received by 8:00 a.m. on the day of your child’s absence. All absences require a signed parent excuse within 3 days of the student’s return.
