The Racial Healing Commissions of both the Diocese of Kentucky and Lexington are sponsoring a dual-diocesan-wide event on Racism and Truth Telling with Rev. Canon Stephanie Spellers on Wednesday, September 14 at 7:00 pm at Church of the Ascension in Frankfort, KY. This event is free-of-charge and will be open to the Episcopal Diocese of Kentucky and the Episcopal Diocese of Lexington, as well as to the public. All are welcome. More information to come. September 14th: Telling the Truth About Our Churches and Race

We are saddened by the news of the death of Her Majesty the Queen. In her official capacity, Queen Elizabeth was the Supreme Governor of the Church of England, the mother church of the worldwide Anglican Communion, of which our own Episcopal Church is a Province.

Out of the bonds of affection we hold for our fellow Anglicans and she who was and is our sister in Christ, several congregations of the Diocese will be joining together at Christ Church Cathedral (421 S 2nd St.) in Louisville at 6 PM on Sunday, September 18 to host a special commemoration service marking the death of Queen Elizabeth II. All are welcome. Clergy of the Diocese are invited to vest in cassock and surplice (or alb, if choir dress is not available) with white stoles.

Parking is available at the Louisville Surgery Center (444 S. 1st St), which is directly behind the Cathedral. Additional parking is available on the street and in paid garages at the YMCA (555 S 2nd St.) and the Marriott (280 W Jefferson St.)

The Rev. A. H. (Alexander Hamilton) McNeil (aka Aaron McNeil, a name by which he is fondly remembered by his community today), was a pioneer, churchman, educator, and community leader, as the first African American Episcopal clergyman (deacon) in Hopkinsville, Kentucky. He was born, October 10, 1858 and served faithfully as the first pastor (deacon in charge) of the Mission of the Good Shepherd, Hopkinsville, Kentucky, until his death in Hopkinsville, January 14, 1901. Come to this special observance as we remember and celebrate his life and the ongoing community ministry that continues in his name to this day through the Aaron McNeil House. Anti- racism training is required for all ordained persons, professional staff, and those elected or appointed to committees, commissions, agencies, task forces, and boards as well as vestries and Church staff in accordance with Resolution 2000-B049 of The General Convention.

Dismantling Racism Training workshops will be offered again this fall beginning in August. Opportunities are given for in-person and virtual trainings, with weekday or Saturday options. The Rev. Valerie Mayo has been called to serve as Director of Beloved Community Initiatives at the Seminary of the Southwest in Austin, TX. She began her work there on August 1. Click here to read details about her new position.

The Rev. Rich Martindale has entered retirement and resigned from his position as Rector of St. Paul’s, Henderson on July 31.

The Rev. Katherine Doyle concludes her appointment as the Diocese’s Director of Youth and Young Adults on August 21.

Ms. Caroline Doyle has been appointed to serve as part-time Interim Director of Youth and Young Adults, transitioning from her summer camp position in August.

The Rev. Dr. Georgine Buckwalter has concluded her appointment as Chaplain to the Retired.

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Diocesan Staff continues to work remotely much of the time. We are available by email, and check the office landline phone messages periodically.
