Lake Superior State University made numerous strides in U.S. News & World Report’s 2022-23 “Best Colleges” rankings. LSSU tied for first as the top public school among regional colleges in the Midwest and rose considerable notches in four other ratings categories from last year, further cementing the institution’s longstanding reputation as a regional powerhouse.

LSSU jumped from third in each of the past three years to tied for first as the top public school in regional colleges in the Midwest from 14 ranked. Lake State ascended from tied for 45th best regional college in the Midwest last year to tied for 28th this year from 76 ranked. LSSU came in at 46th best regional college in the Midwest in 2021 and 45th in 2020. For top performers on social mobility in regional colleges in the Midwest, Lake State catapulted from 33rd last year to 24th this year from 76 ranked; this continues an upward trend in social mobility for LSSU as it assessed 46th in 2020.

Lake Superior State University and the LSSU Alumni Association will pay tribute to three highly accomplished alumni at the annual Alumni Awards Program held during Great Lake State Weekend (GLSW) next month: Chris Conklin, Sophie Chandauka MBE, and Jamie Momber. All three have not only had great success professionally but also been exemplary examples of Laker leaders through extensive volunteer work.

“One of our goals at Lake Superior State University is to prepare leaders to meet challenges head-on in an effort to improve the future and contribute to a better society. In honoring these esteemed alumni and their accomplishments, we recognize that their common thread is what makes them Lakers. They are everyday heroes who have forged their paths through dedication and service, and they continue to leave indelible marks on history. We are proud to call them Lakers,” said LSSU President Dr. Rodney S. Hanley. Read More.

The Periodic Table will be located in the main stairway in Crawford Hall. Donors who give $1,000 or more to the Department of Chemistry can choose to sponsor an element from our Periodic Table and have their name permanently associated with it. All donations will support student research in chemistry.
