Nevada Afterschool Network is excited to continue our partnership with Girls Who Code! This year, when you start a free Girls Who Code Club and enroll 3 or more members, you’ll be eligible to receive up to $300 to purchase materials and supplies for your Club. There’s no obligation and every Club gets access to 120+ hours of plug-and-play programming with CSTA standards-aligned coding lessons.
Indicate you’re part of Nevada Afterschool Network on the Clubs application, and you’ll unlock additional support, access to special events, and exclusive opportunities for swag. EDCORPS 2022/2023 APPLICATIONS OPEN
|
|
The EdCorps experience allows any learning environment – classroom, club, or afterschool program – to use entrepreneurship as a vehicle for learning. Not only does a student-run business give classroom content new relevance and opportunities for students to develop real-world skills and an entrepreneurial mindset, but the experience also allows them to work in and with their community in empowering ways.

INVENTIONLAND INNOVATION CURRICULUM GRANT
|
|
|
Inventionland Education is providing awardees with a $3,500 grant for the courseware with a two-year (or more) site license, as well as a 25% discount on all optional student and teacher resources. The course is student-driven and teaches the fundamentals of inventing, innovation, and entrepreneurship, culminating in an actual business pitch during a final Innovation Contest. Any public, private, parochial, cyber, or chartered school is eligible for this grant, regardless of size, population, or income. Inventionland Education provides ongoing support to assist facilitators in successfully implementing the curriculum.

Yet, we have little collective information about this essential workforce. We want to know more about those who are still in the youth fields and those who left, so that we can explore, define, and elevate this collective workforce and their work with youth.

Celebrate the 23rd Annual Lights On Afterschool October 20, 2022!

Launched in October 2000, Lights On Afterschool is the only nationwide event celebrating afterschool programs and their important role in the lives of children, families, and communities. The effort has become a hallmark of the afterschool movement and generates media coverage across the country each year.

The Million Girls Moonshot Toolkit is a collection of resources and tools for all 50 Mott Afterschool States Networks, their partners, and programs, to utilize for the Million Girls Moonshot Initiative. All transformative practice resources have been vetted using a culturally responsive and equity lens to foster inclusive STEM learning spaces for all youth, particularly girls.

VolunteerMatch is one of the biggest volunteer platforms, linking STEM professionals to programs and networks for volunteer and mentoring opportunities. With over 1.3 million visitors per month, VolunteerMatch is now FREE to networks and nonprofit program partners as part of the Moonshot.

The year-round Invention Project program (Pre-k-8) offers 25 unique modules designed to lead students to build an Innovation Mindset™ — a growth mindset that is instilled through immersive hands-on exploration. It can be customized to fit a district or organization’s needs and supports students’ learning styles with equitable, instruction that aligns with national and state standards and seamlessly integrates social-emotional learning (SEL).

Journalistic Learning Initiative
|
The JLI is inviting students to contribute to the Black Student Magazine to improve their writing, communication skills, and overall academics. This program is open to all middle and high school students, who will gather weekly on Wednesdays via Zoom to celebrate Black culture and make new friends nationwide.

National AfterSchool Association (NAA)
|
|
|
Over time, the OST field has made great strides in research, practice, and policies. The research clearly shows that skilled and knowledgeable program staff are the linchpin to high-quality programs that can lead to positive youth outcomes. NAA first published the Code of Ethics for OST Professionals in 2009. NAA then reviewed the Code of Ethics with an equity lens and revised it in 2022. The purpose is to raise awareness of OST professional personal commitments to ethical conduct as they carry out our responsibilities
