The City of Sacramento, Sacramento Housing and Redevelopment Agency, Sacramento Steps Forward, and the County of Sacramento are collaborating to keep you informed about our collective efforts to address Sacramento homelessness. In this newsletter, read about the Sacramento CoC's launch of the Housing Families First Collaborative (HFFC).

Project applications for the Sacramento CoC Special NOFO have closed. Thank you to everyone who submitted an application. Below you will find important dates related to the Special NOFO:

• Review and Rank: End of September 2022
• Notification of Preliminary Review and Rank: September 28, 2022
• CoC Board Approval of Projects List: October 4, 2022
• Notification of CoC Board Action on Projects List to All Applicants (fund, fund at reduced amount, do not fund): October 5, 2022
• Consolidated Application due to HUD: October 20, 2022

The FY 2022 regular Continuum of Care (CoC) Program Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) competition is nearing completion! The Sacramento CoC will submit its Consolidated Application, including ranked Project Priority List and CoC Application narrative to HUD today. Thank you to Homebase and the entire CoC Community for your input and efforts throughout this year’s NOFO program competition. Stay informed on the next steps by visiting the 2022 NOFO webpage. 

The next Sacramento Homeless Policy Council will be held on Friday, October 7 from 1-3 PM. The agenda will be posted on our website before the meeting. Please be sure to register to receive the meeting link via Zoom email confirmation.

The California Department of Public Health through its “Vaccinate All 58 (VA58)” campaign is working to overcome barriers and improve equitable distribution of vaccines by providing accurate promotional and educational resources in-language. We highly encourage agencies with capacity to proofread and verify translations to help us meet the language needs of our diverse communities, including people experiencing homelessness. Participating agencies will be paid a $50 stipend per page. Please complete this form only if your agency is willing and has capacity to verify translated assets created by VA58.

The Livability Summit is designed to inspire regional unity through engaging dialogue, inspirational perspectives, and collaborative idea-generation. This sold out event will be held on Tuesday, October 4 at 8AM-3PM and is a community event where ideas are shared, voices heard, and solutions hatched. SSF CEO Lisa Bates and our CoC Vice Chair Angela Upshaw will be panelists at the event. Together, we’ll take a deeper look at Valley Vision’s latest research findings and participate in a series of conversations around how we come together to improve quality of life for all residents.

There are two things we can rely on when the weather begins to cool and the autumn winds arrive; the season of pumpkin spice flavored everything is upon us and HMIS is preparing for the LSA.

The LSA, or Longitudinal Systems Analysis, is an annual HUD mandated report which details how our CoC has responded to the local homelessness crisis in the last year. Our HMIS department has spent this month collecting updated contact information for our 415 active programs.  As we ease into October, we are ready to drink our pumpkin spice lattes, communicate with our colleagues to support any data quality issues, and ultimately assemble an LSA report that illustrates the transformative and impactful work Sacramento has accomplished in 2022.

It’s an exciting time at SSF! Our team continues to grow and some staff are even taking on new roles within the organization. We’re thrilled to have Rachel Bereza as Deputy CEO. Rachel is committed to changing the status quo for the benefit of  our community members.
