AN UPDATE FROM THE ANTIOCHIAN VILLAGE
NEW YEAR, AND WE'RE BACK!
|
Four sessions, two weeks of camp each — just like old times!
As everyone knows by now, we just finished our first summer back with a full camping program. A special thank you to all the staff, alumni, and most importantly, to the campers and their families who made this summer what camp is and will always be:
a life-changing experience for those of us seeking to be closer to Christ.
| |
THE BOARDS ARE UP AND THE BUNKS ARE IN
Our new cabins were finished just in time for the 2022 camping season!
The campers in cabins 40 and 41 got to enjoy the brand new facilities, and the male support staff finally got their own living space to dwell together as a single community this Summer.
| |
|
This fall, we are excited to welcome our newest camp interns, Nick Oldziey (left) and Constantine Kallaur (right)!
Constantine and Nick are both excited to start this new year as part of the AV full time family, and have already been hard at work helping around the camp, working on videos for the camp, and getting some exciting new projects underway that you'll definitely see soon!

|
...well, an old name you might recognize!
As of this Summer, the bookstore is now called "Namie's Nook," in honor of Fr. John Namie, the first camp director of The Antiochian Village.
As The Antiochian Village continues to grow, we seek to remember and honor those who built the foundation for what we have today, in any way we can!

NEW... MYSTERIOUS GOLDEN MOUNDS
Anyone happening by the camp grounds these days will see piles of golden wood chips marking many spots throughout the camp. That's those old ugly stumps that have been lounging around camp for years!
|
Our crews have been hard at work removing stumps all over camp. By the time you get here for your next camp visit, the camp grounds will be wider and clearer than you've ever seen them.
| |
The good kind! The dining hall has been power washed and stained with fresh wood stain, part of our effort to keep our camp grounds well maintained and without corruption!
|
You saw the new asphalt put in last year to make our basketball court full size, but we still needed one or two things to finalize the work. This summer, the basketball hoops were installed! Our two full-size courts are now in working order, and have already served our growing camp population immensely. Better yet - the hoops are adjustable, which makes it possible for our smaller campers to enjoy shooting hoops!
Our guy, alum Kyle Laham has generously donated a new computer workstation to assist the video productions the staff will be working on in the on and off-season, which is helpful since there is no off-season for video-work anymore! Kyle's gift has already served The Antiochian Village this summer, and will be a seminal resource for our work going forward in this media-heavy era.
(Kyle as seen in the 2009 camp video with his friend, Wilson)
|
In the past two years, all the computers in the Village office have been donated by Kyle, which makes it easier for us to do things like dig up old camp footage like this. Thank you Kyle!
| |
NEW PROJECT COMING SOON...
The Antiochian Village continues to grow, and as this community approaches a half century of devoted ministry, the need arises to build new facilities, and renovate old ones. Speaking of which, we have a big project we want to present to you soon! Keep an eye out for information on how we can all come together to make the old, well, new again! It takes a village!
