With August behind us, Capital Region USA has a big slate of fall and winter programming about to begin.

First, a big thanks to those of you who signed up for our inaugural Global Travel Exchange (GTE) in Washington, DC this October. Nearly 40 suppliers will be joining 35 UK/European tour operators and US-based receptive tour operators for one-on-one meetings, touring, and business-building designed to grow international visitation to the region. 

While registration for the GTE is now closed, you can still register for our annual Global Marketing Update, which kicks things off, Monday, Oct. 10. Find more details here. Get updates from CRUSA, Brand USA, Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, our researcher Scott Johnson, and others as we share the outlook for 2023 and beyond. 

With the return of travel, comes a full slate of CRUSA's media and sales missions. If you're interested in sharing your stories and selling your destination, we've got sales missions to France (Dec. 5-9), Germany (Jan. 16-20), and media missions to the UK (Feb. 6-10), France (April 3-7), and Germany (April 24-28). Congratulations to This Year's Destiny and Mercury Award Winners!

US Travel Association’s annual ESTO (Educational Seminar for Tourism Organizations) conference was hosted in Grand Rapids, Michigan from August 6-10. There were several regional organizations that were nominated for 2022 Destiny and Mercury Awards during the event. 

Congratulations to both Charlottesville Albemarle Convention and Visitors Bureau (CACVB) and the Virginia Tourism Corporation (VTC) for their wins! CACVB won a Destiny Award (Community Building category) for their Discover Black Cville initiative and VTC won a Mercury Award (Industry and Strategic Partnership category) for their WanderLove campaign. The TravMedia Awards recognise the finest journalistic, influencer and PR achievements in travel. Share has begun to shift back to traditional European countries, with the UK being the largest Western European market driver. Western European travelers were the largest group of visitors to the US in June 2022. Western Europe also accounts for the most visitors to the US through June 2022.
