I am looking forward to our churches coming together for our Annual Meeting on September 11th at 5:00 pm. This is always a great time for us to gather and to be encouraged and challenged to carry out our mission as churches. This year’s theme is “Staying Focused on the Mission”. I believe that we have a lot of work to do as churches and the enemy will do everything possible to distract us from the work God has called us to. I am praying that this meeting will help us to renew our commitment to continue the great task that God has called us to in carrying out the Gospel. The meeting will begin with a brief time of business, and we will spend the rest of our evening together singing and hearing from God’s word. This year our music will be led by Rhon Carter (GBMB Music/Worship Catalyst). We will have an associational choir as well leading us in our worship. We will also hear from Pastor Charlie Miller who will be bringing our Missions message. Bro. Charlie is the Pastor of FBC Unadilla. I am very excited to have as our guest speaker, Dr. Emir Caner who is the President of Truitt McConnell Baptist University. Dr. Caner is an excellent preacher, and I am looking forward to how God is going to speak through him to encourage us. You will not want to miss this meeting! Each church is allowed at least five messengers who will be voting on the items of business, but I want to encourage each church to do their best to have as many people as possible to attend to worship together. We will also have a time of fellowship enjoying some food together after the meeting. I am thankful that FBC Vienna will be hosting our meeting. There will be a nursery provided! I hope to see you all there!

Dear Co-Laborers in Christ:

I would like to say “Thank You” for allowing me the privilege to serve as moderator of the South Central Baptist Network (formerly known as the Houston Baptist Association) over the past two years. This unique community of churches, united in like faith with a common purpose and mission, makes us stronger when we are willing to work collectively and cooperatively as the Body of Christ. At the upcoming annual meeting, we will be electing a new moderator along with the many other officers and team members (committee members) who make the network/association work to accomplish its mission “to equip and encourage our local churches in the pursuit of health and encouragement of the community with the Gospel.” As the nominating committee is nearing the completion of their work, I want to thank all of you who agreed to serve in your respective ministry areas. Without you, the network/association would not function. If you are still considering an area of ministry in which to serve, I would encourage you to pray for the LORD’s guidance. He will certainly make it known to you. While serving as moderator, I was able to visit many of our churches. From attending Sunday evening services, to weeknight revival meetings, to speaking at brotherhood meetings, to participating in ordination services, I was blessed to have experienced the love of your local congregation. We have wonderful churches, and I am grateful for each church and your commitment to love God and people. As a network/association, let’s continue to move forward for the glory of God. Let’s keep our focus on reaching the lost, discipling the saved, and strengthening one another. Together, we can do so much more! I look forward to seeing you at the 192 nd annual meeting on September 11, 2022 at First Baptist Church Vienna. I assure you that you will not want to miss it!

In His Service,

Stan Bowen
