PRESIDENT'S NOTES
The new school year is underway.  We are preparing to welcome new interns from overseas who come to us through a State Department sponsored program, and local university students.  For the first time, we are offering a very limited number of paid internships to Delaware residents attending Delaware universities or colleges.

We provide students with a valuable learning experience.  In addition to learning the mechanics of trade, how to conduct international market research and evaluate opportunities, and how to work with our local and international partners, students meet company and organization representatives, local and national government officials and their staff, and attend all of our events and programs, local, on the web, or in Washington or New York.

By paying interns, we are removing a barrier to working with us.  Not every student can afford to volunteer.  Not every student has government funding for an internship. Some students must earn a salary to pay for tuition, books and living expenses.  Some of these same students also must work to contribute to their family's income.  We believe that the lack of financial resources should not place some students at a disadvantage when it comes time to gain experience beyond the classroom. This lack of experience not only affects their ability to apply their education, but to get a job after graduation.
Proceeds from the Gala will support our internship program.

So be sure to come to the Annual Gala on November 3 and help us prepare the next generation of international business professionals.
