2023 Y.E.S. Backpack Drive

The 2023 Youth Education Supporters Backpack Drive helped make it possible for Marana Unified School District to distribute 846 backpacks on Saturday, August 5th.

Despite the sweltering heat, many families were lining up as early as 6:30am outside the Resource Fair held at the Early Learning and Resource Center. This event was hosted by the Health Services and Student and Family Support Services Departments of MUSD.

21 resources for families ranged from:

  • Marana Police Department finger printing
  • Lion’s Club doing vision screening
  • Make Way for Books
  • ICS
  • Casa De Los Ninos
  • Dental care provided by Marana Health Center
  • Poison and Drug Information

Over 1000 people attended this amazing event! The moment each student was able to joyfully choose their favorite backpack and a bag of grade appropriate school supplies was the highlight of the day! "Wonderful," "I learned so much," and "My children are thrilled," were just a few of the comments from families as they enjoyed the event.

Youth Education Supporters collected donations from businesses, foundations and individuals and came up with over $40,000!!  Please enjoy the happy photos in the video below from that day and thank you to everyone who has given these students the chance to have an equal education with all the right tools!
