Announcing our sixth tree tour of the year, to be held on Sunday, September 10!
Oaks have been an integral part of tree history and evolution. Tour leader Clayton Shearer will be discussing their place in nature, and how their evolution has been affected by factors such as hybridization and by environmental effects including fire and climate change. He will also touch on their historical and cultural significance, and provide some tips on identification of oak species.
Admission to the tour is free but registration is required. Places are limited, so first come, first served. Click here to see more details, including how to register. Registered participants will meet at Building 72 in the Dominion Arboretum at 9:30 a.m.
