Student Spotlight: Stephanie Liebich Enrolls at Cal Berkeley with Help From Honors Transfer Program
El Camino graduate Stefanie Liebich was an Honors Transfer Program member, a student-athlete, and held a part-time job while maintaining a 4.0 grade-point average. Her hard work led to her admission to the highly selective Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley, where she will continue her education.

Liebich was named the 2022 El Camino College Presidential Scholar for the Business Division, a prestigious award that honors the college’s best and brightest. She was also a proud member of the women’s tennis team that claimed its first-ever state championship in 2022 and finished the year undefeated for the first time in program history. “Making history with this special group was something unforgettable and will forever be a core memory that I deeply cherish,” she said.

Liebich enrolled in El Camino in 2020 after a gap year where she traveled internationally and completed internships. She didn’t know what to expect as the pandemic changed the college landscape. “El Camino allowed me to reach my goals of transferring to my top university choice, particularly with help from the Honors Transfer Program,” she said. “HTP helped keep me on track and kept me motivated throughout my two years.”

Athletics Spotlight: Warrior Women Athletes are Unstoppable!
WOMEN'S SOCCER

The Warriors Women's Soccer team has maintained a 5-game winning streak, successfully defeating all teams since the season opened on August 25th. Sophomore standout Allison Sibley from Torrance High, has accounted for 11 goals including 4 game winning goals, for a total of 22 points. We are rooting for your continued success on and off the field ladies!
MEN'S FOOTBALL GAINS 1ST FEMALE PLAYER

On Sept. 2, 20-year-old nursing student Gabriella De La Cruz became the first female football player to score a point in Warriors Football history. She scored a 10-yard extra point kick during ECC's season opener.

Although De La Cruz never touched a football before, sports aren't new to her. The 5-foot-4 athlete was very familiar with the "other" football, playing soccer since a very young age and was even a defender on ECC's women’s soccer team in 2021, before transitioning to football. Describing her game day experience De La Cruz stated, “I was terrified out of my mind going into the game. As a kicker, all eyes are on you when you’re going to kick a field goal. And then added on to being a female, I felt like I was under a microscope.”
