Hey, baseball fans! Head out to Principal Park on September 12th to enjoy a fun night cheering on the Iowa Cubs with Special Olympics Iowa Athletes! The game will start at 6:38 PM. Tickets are $8! Special Olympics Iowa athletes will throw the 1st pitch, lead the 7th inning stretch, and participate in inning-break activities. We hope to see you at the ballpark!

Iowa State Volleyball- Special Olympics Iowa Night!

Join Special Olympics Iowa athletes on September 14 at 6:30 pm as they help with the pregame fan tunnel, in-game promotions- trivia, put to win, serving challenge, challenge a cyclone. SOIA teams Woodward Resource Center & Ames Arc of Story County will play an expedition match inside Hilton Coliseum after ISU Vs. University of California, Santa Barbara. Tickets are only $3!

Run the Principal 5K Road Race or IMT Half Marathon as a Unified Partner

The IMT Des Moines Marathon is partnering with SOIA to provide an opportunity for runners to run the Principal 5K Road Race or IMT Half Marathon with Special Olympic athletes. Unified pairs will train together for 4 weeks leading up to the race and show off their hard work on October 15 when they run the race as a Unified pair.

Athletes will sign up through this form.



Runners will sign up on the IMT Marathon website. Be sure to select the Unified Partner option during sign up!

Hall of Fame Nominations

Do you know someone who has devoted many years to and goes above and beyond for Special Olympics Iowa? Nominate them for the Hall of Fame! The SOIA Hall of Fame was created in 2018 by the Board of Directors to recognize the longevity and achievement of athletes and volunteers with the organization. A voting committee is responsible for reviewing all nominations and voting for the inductees. The inductees will be announced at the SOIA Holiday Party on December 7, 2023. The deadline to submit your nominations is September 30.

The Truck Convoy for Special Olympics, on Saturday, September 16th, is a one-day celebration of the trucking industry, allied partners, and law enforcement all working together to raise money for Special Olympics Iowa.

Special Olympics Iowa athletes and families, and supporters are all invited to hold signs, cheer, and welcome the truckers as they enter the fairgrounds for lunch and a celebration with awards. The Convoy will arrive at the fairgrounds at approximately 11:30am.

Let's freeze! Join us at one of our upcoming fall Polar Plunges for an opportunity to support Special Olympics athletes while jumping into frigid waters. You can take the plunge solo or with coworkers, friends, or family members.

Nothing brings fans together like a good old-fashioned tailgate! Join us Saturday, October 28 from 6-9 pm at the Sheraton West Des Moines hotel to indulge in upscale tailgate cuisine and to take part in fun and festive sports-themed activities. Guests will also get to bid on items in an auction, and cheer for athletes competing in upcoming Special Olympics Iowa events!
