Nominate a Teacher Today!

Administrators, teachers, counselors, parents, students and other STEM advocates are invited to nominate an inspirational science, technology, engineering or mathematics teacher for the 2024 Iowa STEM Teacher Award, sponsored by Kemin Industries and the Iowa Governor's STEM Advisory Council.


This award honors teachers who make a significant difference in the lives of students across the state by providing excellent curriculum, encouraging lifelong learning and inspiring a passion for STEM beyond the classroom and into the future. We are looking for educators who represent Iowa, defined as:


  • Innovative: Use unique ways to educate students to develop a curiosity in STEM fields.
  • Outstanding: Have a true passion for education and provide an exceptional learning experience.
  • Worldly: Help students see that STEM is all around us and is more than the sum of its parts.
  • Academic: Engage students in the classroom, preparing them for higher education and high-demand careers.

Greg Moklestad Honored

Greg Moklestad, the 2023 Northeast Region's STEM Teacher of the Year recipient, along with the five other teachers across Iowa, were recognized during the last day of the State Fair. Congratulations to Greg and all of the awardees.

Deadline for the STEM Scale-Up Program Provider RFP is September 19

Does your organization offer a STEM program that could be Scaled to educators across Iowa? The Iowa STEM Council is seeking program proposals for the 2024-2025 academic year.


The Council’s intention is to bring top STEM education opportunities to all learners, especially those historically underserved. The intent is to seed, jump start or expand little-known and exemplary programs proven to inspire and educate PreK-12 students, enabling educational organizations to sustain beyond the Council’s trial investment.   


If you are interested in providing STEM programming in Iowa and would like to be considered for the Scale-Up Program initiative, please consider submitting a proposal.

Requesting Exhibitors for the STEM Festival in Manchester

Exhibitor registration is open for the Northeast Iowa Family STEM Festival in Manchester.


The STEM Festival will be held on Thursday, November 16 from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM at the Community Center located on the Delaware County Fairgrounds.



Who is invited to exhibit?

  • Business and Industry
  • Higher education
  • Community non-profit groups
  • Organizations providing STEM education

Educators throughout Northeast Iowa complete training to implement STEM Scale-Up Programs

Over the summer, nearly 225 PreK-12 educators across Northeast Iowa completed training for a Scale-Up program. The educators will now start implementing the Scale-Up programs to more than 15,000 kids.
