A Southern Baptist Association

From Your

Associational Mission Strategist

I am looking forward to our Annual Meeting on September 10th at FBC Cordele. I want to encourage every church to attend! I look forward to our churches coming together each year as we conduct business that we need to take care of and then to have a time of worship and hearing great preaching from the word of God. This year, the business session will begin at 5:00 p.m. as we re-elect our Moderator Reed Binson, and Vice-Moderator Terry Ryan. They have done a great job serving our association. I pray that the association will re-elect them for a second term. We will also approve the 2024 Annual Budget and the Nominating Committee report. This year we also have a motion from our Constitution/Bylaws committee to approve revisions in our bylaws that will help protect our association from any lawsuits. We have added additional language as it pertains to marriage and what we affirm scripture says about marriage. We are encouraging churches to have their messengers present for this business session. Each church is entitled to five messengers for the first hundred (or any fraction thereof) and one additional messenger for every fifty, or fraction thereof, but no church may exceed fifteen messengers. Pastors are ex-officio messengers.

This year the finger food fellowship will begin at 5:15. We want to invite everyone to come and enjoy some great fellowship time. Then at 6:00 pm, we will gather for a time of worship where we will worship through song and through the preaching of God's word. I am looking forward to Jeremy Barrett (Pastor of Riverview Baptist Church) and Dr. J. Robert White bringing the messages. During our time of worship, there will also be a children and youth program. We have leaders from different churches in our association that will be leading. We began doing this before Covid and we are doing it again as we are praying that families can come together as we meet as churches during this annual meeting.

Please be in prayer for how God is going to move in our lives. I am praying

that this meeting will inspire and encourage us as churches that will impact

our association in a great way!

What to do with all those old Sunday School books?

Don’t throw them away–bring them to SCBN Office

Bring your old SS literature to SCBN Center. Chad Harris will take it to an Edwin L. Hodges Ministries collection site to send overseas. ELHM is a Christian literature ministry that collects donated Bibles, books, magazines, tapes, and tracts from American Christians and ships them to Bible schools, churches, missionaries, and ministries overseas. ELHM is a non-denominational, nonprofit, evangelical ministry.
