PROMOTIONS & ANNOUNCEMENTS
Jaymi L. Salisbury Promoted to Senior Associate
Jaymi L. Salisbury has risen to new heights, earning a well-deserved promotion from Associate to Senior Associate. Jaymi began her tenure at the firm in September 2020 as a Post-Bar Law Clerk and was promoted to Associate Attorney after being admitted to the bar in October 2020. Jaymi's unwavering dedication and track record have consistently helped secure fair settlements for her clients, even in the most challenging courtroom battles. Her commitment to excellence shines brightly as she continues to make a significant impact at California's largest family law firm.

Congratulations, Jaymi!
Emiliza San Diego Achieves the Certified Family Law Specialist Designation
Please join us in congratulating Emiliza San Diego, Senior Associate, on achieving the distinguished Certified Family Law Specialist designation. Attorneys with a CFLS designation are credentialed beyond the standard legal requirements to practice family law.

Out of approximately 200,000 California attorneys, less than 1% are Certified Family Law Specialists.

The process of earning the CFLS certification is daunting. Qualifying factors include:

  • Passage of a vigorous written examination in family law
  • Practice law continuously for at least five years, spending at least 25 percent of the time practicing family law
  • Completion of continuing education in family law greater than what is required of general licensees of California State Bar
  • Demonstration of a broad-based and comprehensive experience in family law based on the completion of a variety of matters in the specialty area
  • Favorable evaluations by other attorneys and judges familiar with the attorney's work in family law

A Certified Family Law Specialist is not a pay-to-play "award", nor an accolade offered by a legal marketing company. Instead, the California State Bar Board of Legal Specialization oversees this program, which was created to encourage attorney competency.

We are delighted to announce that Emiliza is now a part of this elite group of practitioners.

Congratulations, Emiliza!

Malinda Wood’s 50th Birthday/Poker

In celebration of Malinda Wood, our Legal Assistant extraordinaire on her 50th birthday, we gathered for a thrilling in-house poker fundraiser! Our employee event was “speakeasy” themed and featured two exciting poker rounds, with the top three winners from each round competing in a gripping final showdown.

An impressive $175 was raised for Pacific Clinics, Malinda’s beneficiary of choice. Pacific Clinics is a nonprofit offering vital services, including mental health, foster care, social support, housing, and education programs.
A special thanks to Cindy Barrett, HK’s Administrative Specialist, for coordinating this friendly competition. Happy 50th Birthday, Malinda! Here's to many more years of joy, laughter, and positive impact!
SCCBA Family Law Section - Don Sagatun
Bowling Event - 9/7
Thank you to the Santa Clara County Bar Association Family Law Section for organizing yet another successful bowling fundraiser! HK’s team, “Split Happens” enjoyed competing with fellow Silicon Valley family law attorneys as we all joined together for a common cause: to support the Don Sagatun Edwards fund. The fund is used to pay for therapy for children in custody cases within Santa Clara County Family Court.
HK is committed to providing legal advocacy for children of divorcing parents in the Minor’s Counsel matters we handle to ensure the voices and best interests of children are heard. Each year, countless children are impacted by the trauma of their parents’ custody arrangements and do not have the resources to get help. Any contribution to the Don Sagatun Edwards fund is tax-deductible and can make a huge difference to a child in need.

Please contact us if you would like more information about this important cause.

Santa Cruz Railroad Woods & Boardwalk
Family Day - 9/16
On Saturday, September 16, 2023, HK employees and their families embarked on an exciting journey to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk via the historic Roaring Camp Train. Our adventure began bright and early at the Roaring Camp Depot, located in the heart of the towering redwoods of the Santa Cruz Mountains. The nostalgia of the steam engine train set the perfect tone for a day of exploration and fun.

After our scenic ride through the redwoods, we arrived at the bustling Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, where we took a ride on the Pirate Ship and then the famous Carousel, before breaking off into groups for a few hours, where a few of us rode the Giant Dipper, a historic wooden roller coaster. After a fun-filled family day for the HK crew, we returned to the train stop to ride back.

Thank you to all the team members and their families who joined us on this unforgettable adventure!

A few days later, we had the privilege of teaming up with Joseph George Wines again to host a “Friends of HK Reception” at their San Jose wine shop. We sincerely appreciate our esteemed referral partners and cherished friends who were able to attend. Thank you for your continued support and for coming out to raise a glass with us!
