Dear Michael,

It is officially fall, which means it is almost time to celebrate Pro Bono Week! Coordinated by the American Bar Association’s Standing Committee on Pro Bono and Public Service, Pro Bono Week is intended to inspire even greater pro bono participation by lawyers throughout the nation. Pro Bono Week will be celebrated from October 22-28 and PILI is organizing a variety of events across Illinois around and during that week through our Judicial Circuit Pro Bono Committees. We hope you will join us in celebration! Learn more about what we are planning »

We are also planning CLE programs and pro bono clinics as well as welcoming our Fall Semester Law Student Interns. Details are below and you can always find a list of upcoming events on our website. We hope to see you over the next month!

Sincerely,

The Staff at PILI

Volunteer Spotlight

PILI is building and nurturing a Community of Service within the Illinois Legal Community. This month we want to highlight Christopher Hunter.

Christopher currently maintains a private practice in Alton and serves the southern Illinois community as a trial attorney and mediator. He serves frequently as Guardian Ad Litem for the Third Judicial Circuit in the family and probate divisions. Christopher uses his extensive experience in civil litigation to volunteer for Catholic Charities and the Third Judicial Circuit Pro Bono Committee. He also donates his time to speak at continuing legal education seminars on a variety of topics in support of pro bono.

In addition to this work, he recently worked on an Illinois Armed Forces Legal Aid Network case through PILI. This case was lengthy and complex, but he was able to assist a veteran and their family with a difficult eviction.
