NAGPRA COMPLIANCE IN INDIANA MUSEUMS: NAVIGATING THE NEW REGULATIONS


This program will discuss the newly released NAGPRA regulations and how they intersect with other components of the NAGPRA law. Specifics regarding consultation with federally recognized tribes, collections management, and legal documentation will be discussed.


ABOUT THE SPEAKER


Dr. Jayne-Leigh Thomas, Indiana University NAGPRA Director


Dr. Jayne-Leigh Thomas has a MSc in Resource Management from Central Washington University and a PhD in Archaeology from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland. She has been the NAGPRA Director at Indiana University since 2013.

Introducing The Inclusive Historian's Handbook


The Inclusive Historian's Handbook is an online resource that supports inclusive and equity-focused historical work in public settings by sharing a knowledge base that invites more people to engage in history projects. The handbook is co-sponsored by AASLH and National Council on Public History.

NASA Funding Opportunity: Teams Engaging Affiliated Museums and Informal Institutions (TEAM II)


NASA is seeking proposals for the 2024 NASA TEAM II Community Anchor and STEM Innovator Awards. Eligible proposers include U.S. nonprofit science museums, planetariums, youth-serving organizations, and libraries. Selected parties will offer inquiry- or experiential-based opportunities that include NASA education and research and directly align with space exploration, aeronautics, space science, earth science, or microgravity. STEM Innovator proposals are due September 26, 2024. Pre-proposal webinar materials and links, plus FAQs, are at the Community Anchor and STEM Innovator landing pages. Please send questions to TEAMii@nasaprs.com.
