SEPTEMBER 2024 NEWSLETTER
Dear SPA/SCC Alumni & Friends,
I hope this message finds you well! Earlier this month, we kicked off another exciting school year, welcoming many new students and faculty members to Saratoga Central Catholic. There’s a special energy in the air as we begin this new school year, and it’s a reminder of how our school community continues to grow and thrive. This success is the result of the unwavering dedication of our faculty, the talents of our students, the support of our amazing parents, and the generosity of alumni and friends like you.
In fact, over the past three years, we’re proud to have seen a 24% increase in enrollment. This growth is a testament to the strength of our school and the shared belief in the power of an SCC education.
As we begin this new school year, I want to take a moment to thank everyone who contributed to our 2023-24 Annual Appeal Campaign. In my first year working with our alumni, I had the privilege of reconnecting with so many of you and witnessing firsthand the lifelong bonds that remain strong within our community. I’m thrilled to share that last year’s campaign surpassed our fundraising goal and raised over $30,000.
Your contributions supported numerous scholarships and helped fund key renovations, including new and improved office spaces.
Looking ahead to this year, I'm eager to reconnect with even more of you. While last year, we often connected digitally through social media, this year I encourage you to join us in person for some exciting events, including Alumni Career Day, the SPA/SCC Golf Tournament, the Winter Gala, and Saratoga Oktoberfest. These events are fantastic opportunities to get involved and reconnect with SCC!
Thank you again for your continued support and dedication to our school. I look forward to staying connected!

Chris Martell '93 of Druthers Partners with SCC for Saratoga Oktoberfest
Join us for Saratoga Oktoberfest next Saturday, September 28, from 12-5 PM right off Broadway in the SCC parking lot!
We’re excited to partner with Druthers Brewing Company, owned by Chris Martell '93, and Franklin Square Market, owned by the Delos Family, to bring you a day of fun. Enjoy live music by Radio Junkies, drinks from Druthers, and delicious food by Franklin Square Market.
Tickets are available online or at the door, and all proceeds will support SCC capital projects. Don’t miss out on this great event!

Join Us for Alumni Career Day 2024!
We invite our incredible alumni to join us on December 20th (virtually or in-person) to share their post-graduation journeys and inspire our Saints! If you’re passionate about your field—whether it’s law, medicine, tech, business, entrepreneurship, entertainment, STEM, politics, or the arts—we’d love to hear from you.

Fr. James '99 Leads Opening Mass with SCC Community
One of the things that makes Catholic schools so special is the opportunity to celebrate our faith together as a community. Yesterday, we gathered at The Church of St. Peter, right next door, to honor the Memorial of St. John Chrysostom, led by Father James '99.
It was a beautiful start to the school year, filled with prayer and unity.

Alumni to Join in on Fall Drama Production: “Holy Mother of Bingo!”
A few of our talented SCC drama alumni are returning to the stage this fall, joining the SCC High School Drama Troupe and community members for the production of Holy Mother of Bingo. This interactive murder mystery dessert theatre promises to be a fun and engaging experience, with plenty of audience participation.
Be sure to catch the show from November 14th through 17th and support our performers as they raise funds for the performing arts and new LED lights for our theatre

NYRA, ESPN & NBC Announcer & Sports Commentator Tom Durkin Joins SCC Faculty
SCC is excited to welcome Tom Durkin, the legendary Saratoga Race Course announcer, to our faculty as the new Public Speaking Basics teacher. With decades of experience as a NYRA announcer and sports commentator, Mr. Durkin is already making a big impact, and students are loving this new class!

2024 Graduates Earn Over $5.3 Million in Academic Scholarships!
We are incredibly proud of the Class of 2024! Together, they earned more than $5.3 million in academic scholarships and received over 100 college acceptances. Many have already begun their college journeys this past month, with commitments to prestigious schools like NYU, Fordham, RPI, RIT, and more. Congratulations to the Class of 2024!
