Gala Cancellation Notice

We sincerely thank you for supporting the Langley Pos-Abilities Society's ongoing mission to improve accessibility in our community. We have been promoting our new AccessibilityMap.ca app on Google and Apple stores and were excited to celebrate its launch at our Gala for Accessibility on September 28, 2024.
However, it is with a heavy heart that we announce the Gala's cancellation due to unforeseen circumstances. This decision was not made lightly and has saddened us greatly, especially after all the hard work and dedication put into planning it. Unfortunately, several logistical challenges, including lower-than-expected ticket sales, made it impossible to move forward.
We truly appreciate your understanding during this challenging time. Thank you for believing in our cause and standing by our side—we remain committed to our mission and hope to see you at future events.

Sincerely, the team at Langley Pos-Abilities.

PAD Program Notice

We are sorrowful to announce the temporary suspension of our Personal Assistive Device (P.A.D) Program, effective September 11, 2024. This decision was not made lightly, as this program has been our first and most cherished initiative. Due to a critical shortage of volunteers and delivery equipment, we are unable to process these requests or accept new donations currently.

Our P.A.D Program is vital in supporting individuals with disabilities, offering them the independence and freedom they deserve. The need for volunteers is urgent, and our community's reliance on this program underscores its importance. We are urgently calling on our community to step forward and volunteer during this critical time.

Are you or someone you know interested in making a real difference?

We are urgently seeking dedicated volunteers who can:

  • Pick up and drop off used mobility aids (wheelchairs, scooters, bathroom devices, etc.) to community members.
  • Have a valid driver’s license and access to a truck (mileage will be reimbursed).
  • Possess excellent communication skills, technological proficiency, and a strong work ethic.
  • Commit approximately 10 hours per week, with flexible hours available on weekdays or weekends.
  • Undergo a criminal record check (free through Langley Pos-Abilities).

This role is not just a job—it’s an opportunity to profoundly impact the lives of those in need. By supporting our P.A.D Program, you will help provide independence and freedom to community members who rely on this essential service.

If you are ready to make a difference, please fill out our Volunteer Application Form. If you know someone who would be perfect for this role, please share this news with them. Your community needs you now more than ever!

TOAD Program

We have developed several programs which promote understanding of and increase empathy towards persons with disabilities.

Ideal as team-building exercises, employee or management retreats, school educational experiences, seminars, in-services, or lunch and learn events, these activities are fun, interactive and eye-opening.

The Accessibility Map App is here!

The purpose is to enable access to public buildings for anyone who might have challenges, such as seniors, mothers with strollers, and people with disabilities. Disabilities include mobility issues, hearing loss, blindness, and many other conditions requiring assistive devices.
