Banned Books Week

September 22nd - 28th


Banned Books Week celebrates the freedom to read and spotlights current and historical attempts to censor books in libraries and schools. The annual event has brought together the entire book community in shared support of the freedom to express ideas.

Hispanic Heritage Month

September 15th - October 15th


National Hispanic Heritage Month, which began as a weeklong celebration in 1968 and was later expanded to a whole month in 1988, honors the experiences and contributions of this community (hispanicheritagemonth.gov).



To commemorate this month, the Ocean County Library offers a wide selection of resources to explore their stories, perspectives, and history.
