| | | | Even though it has been pretty warm lately, the shift to Fall is in the air. With it comes attending the last outdoor concerts, festivals, and my grandson’s sports events. We went to the Ohio Pawpaw Festival last weekend and had a great time walking around, drinking herbal tea, and listening to music. Choir practices have started up again, and it's been fun to reconnect with my choir mates. I’ve been incrementally increasing my running on the weekends to get ready for the Columbus ½ Marathon on October 19th.. | | | | | We were fortunate enough to be able to end the summer with a few cookouts with friends and family. My brother-in-law, who’s a chef, grilled the best fish, chicken, and pork tacos I’ve ever had. We roasted hot dogs and marshmallows over our fire pit, and it all seemed a fitting end to Summer. Ellie continues to do well in school and in Cross Country – she had great times in her opening two races in Circleville and her home race. Ainsley has restarted her piano lessons after a short summer break. She doesn’t always enjoy practicing, but she loves being able to play the piano. | | | | | Our calendar has been packed with events including a few outdoor amphitheater concerts, one of which was opened by The Sweet. Hearing those old 70’s songs was a thrill! Two events were in support of our kids. The first was a Polo Match played at Bryn Du Mansion in Granville, Ohio. The PANL Open was sponsored by PANL Homes, owned by our son and daughter-in-law. They are learning to play polo with the Play Polo Club and participated in the match. The second was a Glow-Golf event supporting Cincinnati Broomball, an organization our daughter belongs to. Glow Golf is played at night with lighted golf balls. The tee boxes, greens, and holes are marked with led lights. It is great for a player (like me) with limited skills since the illuminated golf balls are easy to track and hard to lose. With all this fun coming to an end, it’s time to dust off the lawn rakes. | | | | | As September has unfolded, I have tried to my best to get in the fall spirit, despite the summer temperatures. As a pumpkin spice enthusiast, I have been sampling the seasonal drinks as well as working on recipe testing a variety of pumpkin desserts, much to the benefit of my roommates. So far, the overall favorite has been a white chocolate chip pumpkin streusel cookie. I am looking forward to going apple picking and breaking out some of my sweaters going into the next month. | | |

FEDERAL RATE CUT: On September 17, 2025, the Federal Reserve cut interest rates by 0.25%, its first reduction since December 2024. The Fed cited moderating growth, slower job gains, and elevated inflation as reasons, noting increased downside risks to employment. One member dissented, favoring a larger 0.5% cut. WEAKEST MONTH: September has consistently been the S&P 500’s worst-performing month. Since 1928, it’s averaged a 1.17% decline, and over the past 25 years, losses have averaged 1.5% with gains less than half the time. (Source: Bespoke)
CHANGING OF THE GAURD: Home prices in June climbed 4% year-over-year in cities like New York, Chicago, and Boston, fueled by tighter inventory in the Northeast and Midwest. Meanwhile, former hot spots in the South and West, including San Francisco, Dallas, and Tampa, posted year-over-year declines. (Source: S&P CoreLogic)
UNEMPLOYMENT EXCEED JOB OPENINGS: For the first time since April 2021, unemployed workers outnumber job openings. In July, openings fell to 7.18M from 7.51M earlier this year, while unemployment climbed to 7.24M from 6.89M. (Sources: Yahoo! Finance, BLS)
