| | Dear Friends and Neighbours | |
Hello Ward 6 Residents,
As September arrives, I hope everyone is enjoying the last days of summer and looking forward to the fresh start that fall brings. With students returning to school, I want to wish families a smooth and safe transition into the new school year. As in previous years, Halton Regional Police will be monitoring and patrolling school zones, reminding all of us to take extra care on our roads and be mindful of children heading back to school.
September is also a wonderful time in Burlington to enjoy our trails, waterfront, and local events as the seasons begin to change. I look forward to connecting with many of you at upcoming community meetings and activities, and I encourage you to share your ideas, questions, and concerns with me so we can continue building a safe and vibrant Ward 6 together.
I also invite you to join me at my Ward 6 Integrated Mobility Session on September 24 at the Haber Community Centre (Community Room 1) from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., where residents will have the chance to speak directly with scooter providers, City staff, and Halton Regional Police about mobility, safety, and transportation in our community. Your input will help guide future decisions that affect all of us.
Wishing you and your families a healthy and productive month ahead!
Cheers,
Angelo

Imagine being 10 years old and starting school without a backpack, supplies, or even lunch. Sadly, too many Halton students face exactly this on their first day back.
The Halton Learning Foundation (HLF) is stepping in to help — but they can’t do it alone. Last year, thanks to community support, 1,220 HDSB students in Burlington received emergency help and school supplies. This year, the need is even greater.
Let’s make sure no student in our community is left behind this September.

| | Pre-building Approval Process On-line Tool | |
The MyFiles tool lets applicants check on the status of their pre-building approval application in real time. It allows them to follow along as their application goes through each step in the review process.
While applicants are still welcome to contact staff with questions, they can now login to this new portal to access information they may need about their application, if they prefer. MyFiles can be used by residents who have applied for Pre-Building Approval after April 24, 2023.
Once an account has been created, applicants can check the status of their files for applications related to:
- decks,
- accessory building or structure like a shed or gazebo,
- renovations such as additions or
- build a new house.
Process Updates
The process has been updated by separating the review of the Zoning Bylaw, Grading and Drainage Bylaw, and Tree Bylaw so that:
· a Zoning Clearance Certificate is needed before applying for a Building Permit.
· a Grading and Drainage Clearance Certificate is needed before a Building Permit can be issued.
a Tree Permit is needed before construction can begin.
