SEPTEMBER 2025 CURRENT HAPPENINGS

Congratulations to our 2025 Midwest Regional Match Play Winners

Our Chapter was thrilled to be represented by three fantastic teams, with two advancing to the Finals at Sandestin Resort in Destin, Florida on October 24th and 25th!

Our third team, Whole Lotta Fort Fun (Lisa, Jean, Lori and Amy), may still have a chance to compete if another team is unable to attend.

Way to go, ladies — we’re so proud of you all!

MEMBER SPOTLIGHTS

What's a fun fact or hobby outside of golf that you'd like to share with the group?

  • My claim to fame is in 8th grade I got to sing with John Denver at The Embassy for his Christmas show. Our choir was invited to be his back up for a medley. Also, I was pulled up on stage at a Martina McBride concert. I really can’t sing but was in choirs growing up since I played the piano.

Megan Bobay

How long have you been playing golf? What inspired you to join the LPGA Amateurs and what do you hope to gain?

  • I started playing golf 30 plus years ago with my grandpa’s clubs at Lakeside’s par 3 then The Elk’s (now Coyote Creek) had great summer programs for kids I enjoyed. I played on Dwenger’s golf team (anyone made the team then…) with Riverbend as our home course and loved playing all the other courses. After moving home after college, I knew if I didn’t join a league I wouldn’t play, and Chestnut is the perfect location between work and home. I’ve met a lot of great gals through the LPGA Amateurs.

What's your favorite golf course or golfing memory?

  • Recently my favorite course is Papago in Arizona. I visited Laura Zellner this spring and we played there in the Dessert Classic. It’s like the Vera Bradley Classic on steroids with clinics, entertainment, and swag.

Do you have a preferred golfing buddy, style, or strategy when playing?

  • I just like to go out and have fun and get a little exercise. I do enjoy being competitive though with Laura Zellner…not only in golf but Mah Jongg, Words with Friends, Wordle, Connections, etc. Then there’s the Purdue - Michigan rivalry her husband Scott also joins in on.

What's a fun fact or hobby outside of golf that you'd like to share with the group?

  • I love to garden. I am a creator and love to bring the beauty out in my flower gardens.

Patti Walters

How long have you been playing golf? What inspired you to join the LPGA Amateurs and what do you hope to gain?

  • I have been playing golf since the age of 18. Susan Adams asked me to join 9 years ago, and I have enjoyed all the friends I have made. I hope I continue to make new friends on and off the course.

What's your favorite golf course or golfing memory?

  • My favorite golf courses are in Michigan at Boyne! My favorite memories are my Husband Dave coaching me the last few summers he was alive. In 97 he took my handicap from a 21 to 11 and those lessons will always be with me.

Do you have a preferred golfing buddy, style, or strategy when playing?

  • Becky Lance is my golfing buddy, my match play partner, my partner in crime but more importantly she is the true meaning of a friend!
