Inaugural Carnation Concert Crawl

Photos by Last Lite Photography

The City of Carnation partnered with Morgan Henley Presents to bring a full day of music to our downtown on August 17th. This event was made possible through a Port of Seattle economic development grant.

The Carnation Concert Crawl began at Carnation Cafe bright and early with the soothing sounds of Sheyenne Leonard. City Staff handed out Concert Passports to brave souls who were determined to make it to all five concerts.

The crowd then moved to the Tolt Commons to watch Serious Goose perform on the Chess Board. The Carnation Chamber of Commerce hosted a vendor village, and lawn games were available for families to enjoy.

The lot next to Big Block Brewery was quickly transformed into a concert venue with the addition of a stage and a roll of turf. Stomping Ground was the third act of the day, equipped with a harmonica and a Lady Gaga mash-up.

Massy Ferguson performed next at Miller's brand-new outdoor music venue. The Seattle-based Americana rock band showcased tracks from their latest release, then ventured off to play the flute for people on the streets.

Eden concluded the Carnation Concert Crawl with a high energy show at Pour House Pete's. Morgan and the Carnation team handed out prizes from a drawing of the completed passports.

Officials visit City of Seattle's Tolt Dam

Thank you to our state and federal representatives for taking the time to attend!

The City of Carnation invited Congresswoman Kim Schrier and Senator Keith Goehner to join Mayor Hawkins in visiting the Tolt Dam, a structure owned and operated by the City of Seattle via Seattle Public Utilities.

Representatives from the offices of Councilmember Sarah Perry and Representative Brian Burnett were in attendance, as well as partners from King County Sheriff's Office, King County Office of Emergency Management, Eastside Fire & Rescue, City of Duvall, and Riverview School District.

Mapping Belonging: Carnation Walkabout

The City of Carnation Team joined the Taskar Center for Accessible Technology to participate in a walking tour of Carnation to test out their new mobile app project.

The application, currently in its beta testing phase, collects data on streets and sidewalks to gauge ease of travel for different interest groups. Thank you for including our City in your research!

National Night Out

National Night Out (NNO) is an annual community event, always held on the first Tuesday in August, that promotes neighborhood camaraderie and strengthens community partnerships by encouraging residents to get to know their neighbors and local first responders. This year, the Carnation NNO had hot dogs, face paint, live music, a scavenger hunt, a bounce house, obstacle course, and games!
