Tompkins Build Fall Cohort Launches

IAED’s fall session of Tompkins Build: Pathways to Apprenticeship officially launched on Monday, September 29^th, at the former bus depot in Ithaca’s West End, made available by Tompkins Community Bank of CNY. First day activities included team-building exercises, distributing hand tools donated by Milwaukee, and a meet-and-greet with seven of nine participating local union representatives.

The 11-week paid training program will run through December 11^th. It features a unique combination of hands-on experience, classroom instruction, and direct engagement with labor unions. During the program, the 15 participants learn fundamental skills, earn industry-recognized certifications, and make valuable connections within the industry. Training is delivered by active union members, ensuring participants receive real-world insights and mentoring from seasoned professionals.

IAED Delivers Keynote Address at REV Event

Kellea Bauda, IAED’s Director of Business Services, delivered the keynote address at Rev’s ‘Sprout with Sponsors’ networking event on September 11^th. Approximately 75 attendees received her presentation on the importance of starting and attracting business and how IAED fits into the entrepreneurship puzzle. Additional participants in the evening’s event were Cornell Business & Technology Park, Klausner Cook, Sciarabba Walker, SimuTech, and YEM Ithaca.

Stallone Departing Centralus Health

Centralus Health – formed by the merger of Cayuga and Arnot Health – announced Dr. Martin Stallone will step down as CEO effective later this year. Stallone has been with Cayuga Health for 17 years and has held the leadership post since 2018. In a statement, Tom LaVigne, co-chairman of the Centralus Board of Directors, said “The board of directors expresses its genuine and heartfelt appreciation for Dr. Marty Stallone’s leadership. Marty has left an indelible mark on our community.”

In December, Stallone will join The Lifetime Healthcare Companies, parent company to Excellus BlueCross BlueShield, as Executive Vice President, Chief Healthcare Services Officer. He will be replaced by Robert Lawlis, who currently serves the CEO of Cayuga Health Partners.
