Dallas ISD Updates
Dallas ISD CCMR Outcomes: September’s board briefing focused on Student Outcome Goal 5 on college, career, and military readiness (“CCMR”). Dallas ISD continues to shine, with 91.4% of 2024 seniors meeting the State’s standard for readiness. That standard is becoming more rigorous—as it should—but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t praise Dallas ISD for meeting the current standard with flying colors. For college readiness, 59% met the standard, while 41.8% met the standard for career readiness by earning an industry-based certification.
New Student Outcome Goals: Last year, the board developed new goals to guide the district through 2030, including:
- Goal 1: Student achievement on the third-grade state assessment in reading/writing in Domain 1 (average of Approaches, Meets, and Masters) will increase from 45% to 55% by June 2030.
- Goal 2: Student achievement on the third-grade state assessment in mathematics in Domain 1 (average of Approaches, Meets, and Masters) will increase from 41% to 52% by June 2030.
- Goal 3: Student achievement on the state assessments in reading/writing in Domain 1 (average of Approaches, Meets, and Masters) for all eighth-grade students will increase from 51% to 58% by June 2030.
- Goal 4: Student achievement on the state assessments in mathematics in Domain 1 (average of Approaches, Meets, and Masters) for all eighth-grade students will increase from 49% to 53% by June 2030.
- Goal 5: The percent of graduates meeting the criteria for college, career, or military ready (CCMR) will increase from 80% to 88% by August 2030.
In September, we looked at beginning of the year (BOY) numbers as we work to achieve the above goals. What stood out is that our BOY numbers are nearly universally higher this year than last year, meaning students finished last year strong and it shows for their readiness this year. Promising start, and we’ll continue to monitor throughout the year.
W.T. White Field Lights:The City Plan and Zoning Commission voted 13-1 to approve the new practice field lights at W.T. White. These lights will allow our student athletes, musicians, dancers, and others more time to use the field, avoid the heat when necessary, and practice after the time change. It will also allow the community to use the field safely during community hours. Dallas ISD has committed to limit the hours of operation to no sooner than 6:00 a.m. and no later than 10:00 p.m. Thank you to the Schrieber Manor community for supporting these lights and the students at W.T. White.
Principal for a Day: One of my favorite events each year is Principal for a Day (PFAD), where community members attend our schools as “Principals” to spend a day. You will learn about how our schools work, see the amazing talents of our teachers and administrators, and learn the strengths and challenges facing our schools. This year’s PFAD is October 29, 2025. Sign up here.
