From Your

Associational Mission Strategist

I am truly looking forward to our annual meeting on September 14th. Each year, it is such a blessing when our churches come together for this special time of fellowship and worship. This year, we will gather at Pinecrest Baptist Church in Cordele, who are graciously hosting us in their newly renovated sanctuary.

The business session will begin at 5:00 p.m. for messengers elected by the churches. Following a brief time of business, we will enjoy light refreshments and fellowship in the fellowship hall at 5:30 p.m. I want to encourage all members of our churches to come and share in this time together.

At 6:00 p.m., we will return to the sanctuary for a time of worship. I am anticipating a wonderful service as we lift our voices together in song and hear from God’s Word. This year, we are blessed to welcome “Voices of Truth” from Brewton-Parker Christian University, who will be sharing a message through song. Our message will be brought by Dr. Wayne Bray, Pastor of First Baptist Church of Simpsonville, SC. Wayne is a longtime friend, and I am excited for him to share a powerful word that will both challenge and encourage us.

During our gathering, I will also share an update on our camp ministry, and we will receive a love offering in support of the camp. Also, a nursery will be provided for children from preschool through 2nd grade during the time of worship.

I hope you will make plans to join us on September 14th at Pinecrest Baptist Church. May this be a time when we are strengthened in fellowship and renewed in worship of our Savior.

2025 Disaster Relief Training

As the fall hurricane season approaches, Georgia Baptist Disaster Relief is preparing for what could be another critical year of response.

Hurricane Helene reminded us just how urgent and unpredictable these moments can be—and how vital it is to be ready when disaster strikes.

That’s why we want to personally urge you to identify and send anyone in your church who might be interested in serving to the upcoming Disaster Relief Training.

  • LaGrange
  • September 12-13, 2025 (Friday & Saturday)

AND

  • Valdosta,
  • October 3-4, 2025 (Friday & Saturday)
  • Registration deadline September 28

This is one of our most comprehensive training events of the year.

In just two days, volunteers can be equipped in the following areas:

  • Introductory Disaster Relief Training (DRI) – Required for all new volunteers
  • Incident Management Team (IMT) – For those with leadership or logistics experience
  • Assessment Training – Learn how to be first on the scene and report needs accurately
  • Heavy Equipment Training – Ideal for those with CDL or equipment operation skills

Whether someone feels called to pray with survivors, run a chainsaw, cook hot meals, or coordinate logistics behind the scenes, there’s a place for them in Disaster Relief.

We believe God is raising up men and women for such a time as this.

With the fall storm season coming fast, this training is right on time.

Please help us spread the word.

Encourage those in your congregation with a heart to serve to get trained now—before the next storm hits.
