How are you promoting Psi Iota Xi in your communities?
Community newspapers will often include photos of events and presentations of checks to community organizations. Maybe a chapter member would like to take on the task of publicity chair for the sorority. This is a great way to get the Psi Iota Xi name out in the community on a regular basis. A convention press release was included in your convention packet for you to use. You can also download the press release here.
Sponsoring an event is another positive way to share with your community. Wear your Psi Ote shirts to the event. There may also be local media coverage as well. Make sure you always post your involvements in Psi Iota Xi’s name to social media. Don’t just share to our group page but to all your friends. Someone may see your post and be interested in joining us!
Does your chapter have a flyer, brochure, or business cards? They are easy to make and distribute. Ask your local doctor’s office, dentist’s office, etc. if you can keep a supply of brochures at their office. Your local chamber of commerce or visitor’s center would also keep a supply of brochures. Many chapters donate to their local library, so ask if you can distribute brochures there. Your ladies have many connections in the community. Use your unique chapter and community to promote your chapter and all the wonderful things you support.
Word of mouth continues to be the best method of promoting the good works of Psi Iota Xi. Share with family, friends, co-workers, and people in line at the grocery store what it means to be a Psi Ote.
Enthusiasm goes a long way! Be excited about your chapter’s projects and the community services that benefit from them. You are your best promotion. I always buy a couple of new T-shirts or sweatshirts in the salesroom at conventions or state meetings. It helps with the chapters that you purchase them from and is a great promotion! Whenever I am around my town running errands, I will most likely be wearing a Psi Ote shirt. It is like wearing a big sign that you are proud of. People will ask, they always do! Then you can tell them all about the great things that we do!
We are getting ready to start a new sorority year. Make a resolution now to promote Psi Iota Xi in everything you do!

Happy September!
There is a Kenny Chesney song titled “Don’t Blink” which talks about the swift passage of time. I feel that this summer has passed in one of those blinks of an eye moment. I suspect that has been the same for many of us in this busy crazy time of year.
As we slow a bit for the change of season, we see things begin again like school, football season and, for most of us, our new Psi Ote Year begins after a summer break. I am always excited to hear what our delegates who attended National Convention have brought back to our chapter to energize us and help us plan for the year. The opportunity at convention to hear about what we have accomplished as a whole and having the chance to talk to other Psi Otes is invaluable and inspiring.
I am looking forward to visiting the ladies from the chapters in Valparaiso, Rochester, Rensselaer, and Remington this year.
As you settle into Fall with its cooler temperatures and vibrant colors my wish for each Psi Ote Chapter is that they are recharged and ready to begin again to serve their communities and continue to make a difference in the lives of those about them.
Have a great Fall y’all!

Have you ever wished you could invite all Psi Ote sisters to your chapter's fundraiser or special event?
If you are planning an event or fundraiser (in person or virtual) and would like to share your invitation with Psi Ote Sisters from other chapters, let us know. The newsletter is great way to reach many sisters and hopefully increase your attendance or sales!
Electronic money transfer apps like Venmo plus virtual platforms like Facebook Live make it possible for even our most distant sisters to participate in another chapter's fundraisers with ease. You can support your sisters across the organization, and you might even get a few ideas for your own chapter!
Advertising in the newsletter is easy, just email JanePatton@PsiIotaXi.org and she will do the rest.
