FoRR at the Travelers Rest

Farmers Market

FoRR had a blast at our booth at the TR Farmers Market at Trailblazer Park earlier this month. Thank you to everyone who came by to enjoy great conversation about our Reedy River and to learn about how you can get involved in FoRR’s work to protect and restore the Reedy River.

Many thanks to the TR Farmers Market team for the opportunity to have a booth during the 9/13 Market. Community events like the TRFM allow us to build relationships with neighbors, share our passion for river health, and invite even more people to join us in caring for one of the upstate’s beloved natural spaces!

In The Books! 2025 Fall River Sweep

The 2025 Reedy River Sweep was a powerful demonstration of community pride, environmental stewardship, and teamwork. This year, more than 250 dedicated volunteers came together with a shared mission to protect and restore the Reedy River. Thanks to their hard work, over 10,700 pounds of trash were removed from the watershed, making an immediate and visible impact on the health and beauty of our river.

With over 250 hardworking volunteers across five different locations, we removed more than 10,720 pounds (~5.4 Tons!) of litter from the Reedy River watershed in just 2.5 hours! Wow! We could not have removed this much litter without each and every one of our volunteers and supporters, and we sincerely appreciate how much our community cares for our hometown river.

Special thanks to our Presenting Sponsors: SeamonWhiteside and Grand Bohemian Lodge Greenville. Thanks also to Openfields, Dapper Ink Printers and Designers (event t-shirts – 100% of proceeds go to FoRR), and Southernside Brewing Co. (afterparty celebration with profit-share) for helping us maintain our community's treasure of the Reedy River.

A special thank-you, too, to Riverside Apartments, Cancer Survivors Park, and Conestee Nature Preserve for helping host sites for this River Sweep, and to Greenville County Litter Ends Here and the City of Greenville for their support collecting the litter piles post-cleanup.

As the only local nonprofit dedicated solely to the health of the Reedy River, FoRR relies on your time, energy, and support to protect this vital, yet urban-impaired, waterway. Your participation helps us keep the Reedy clean, resilient, and a true highlight of our community year-round.

Help us keep the momentum going!

  • Join us for future River Sweeps, riparian plantings, and rain garden projects — follow us on Instagram & Facebook and visit www.friendsofthereedyriver.org/events to stay in the loop.
  • Please consider supporting our work with a financial gift. FoRR’s efforts extend far beyond our twice-annual River Sweeps—we’re working year-round to protect water quality, restore habitats, and connect people with their river. Together, we can make a lasting impact.

In the Books! Boyds Mill Pond Cleanup with Keep Laurens County Beautiful

On Thursday, September 24th, we, at FoRR, had the honor to work aside partners Keep Laurens County Beautiful, Joe Adair Outdoor Educational Center and Laurens County Water Sewer Commission at Boyd’s Mill Pond. Twenty Bags of litter was removed from the Reedy River watershed.

Partnerships like this are so important in protecting our watershed—promoting a safe, clean, and sustainable water supply for our entire community.

Special #ShoutOut to our new friends with D.R. Horton Homes and our longtime friends.

Clean water starts with partnerships!

Sponsor and Volunteer Highlight

2025 Fall Reedy River Sweep

The 2025 Reedy River Sweep was a powerful demonstration of community pride, environmental stewardship, and teamwork. This year hundreds of dedicated volunteers came together with a shared mission, to protect and restore the Reedy River.

This effort would not have been possible without the generous support of our sponsors. We extend heartfelt thanks to Seamon Whiteside, Grand Bohemian Lodge Greenville, Openfields, Dapper Ink and Southernside Brewing. Their commitment provided the resources, visibility and encouragement needed to organize and equip volunteers across our region. Each sponsor played a meaningful role in ensuring the Reedy River Sweep remained one of the Upstate's most impactful conservation event.

Together, our sponsors and volunteers turned concern into action and action into results. The Reedy River is cleaner, stronger, and better because of you!
