Remember, if your institution is a member of LOEX, *all* librarians are a member of LOEX.

Facts and Figures...and LIFE

"Recent college graduates in majors particularly vulnerable to artificial-intelligence disruptions are seeing worse initial job outcomes, according to a new government working paper. The working paper found that graduates of the most AI-exposed programs are experiencing a decline in their likelihood of initial employment after graduation, as well as a decline in initial earnings. Graduates in the top 10 percent of AI-exposed majors saw a 5-percent decline in their likelihood of employment in the first three months (or quarter) after graduation, compared to graduates in less-affected majors. Those same AI-exposed graduates also saw a 13-percent drop in earnings over those first three months, relative to the more insulated majors."

Chronicle for Higher Education (September 22, 2026)

"The combined monthly global trading volume on Kalshi and Polymarket – the two leading prediction markets – more than doubled in the span of two months. It rose from $26 billion in May to $53 billion in July, according to a Pew Research Center analysis of data from The Block, a digital assets media and information firm. This increase was mostly due to a large uptick in sports trading."
