We will also be hosting a tenant-wide airshow meeting for all based tenants and airport users on Thursday, September 17 at 5:30 PM at the Airport Management Offices, located at 4400 Highway 21.

During the meeting, tenants will receive an overview of airshow logistics, anticipated operational impacts, and important planning details. Attendees will also have the opportunity to ask questions directly to the airshow promoters.

Runway incursions remain a serious concern nationally. One important component of our ongoing efforts to improve surface safety at HYI Airport involves conducting a Runway Safety Action Team (RSAT) meeting at least once each year.

In conjunction with Airport Management, we will be conducting a local RSAT meeting on October 19, 2026. The meeting is scheduled at 9:00AM, and will be held at the Airport Management Offices, located at 4400 Highway 21.

The purpose of this RSAT meeting is to unite those individuals and organizations that are actively involved in air traffic operations and movement of aircraft, vehicles and equipment on the Airport Operations Area (AOA). We look for participation from all major airport interests including tenants, fixed base operators, airport operations and maintenance personnel. Participants are asked to help develop recommendations and solutions to enhance surface safety. Those recommendations serve as the foundation for a site-specific Runway Safety Action Plan. You are cordially invited to join us.

Filming crews will be on site on September 22 and 23 to capture footage around the airport.

Crews will be using both drone and ground-based cameras during the filming. Airport management is coordinating with tenants and the tower to ensure filming is conducted safely and with as little disruption as possible.

So don’t be surprised if you see a camera crew around the airport. We’re just working to capture HYI’s good side.
