It’s fall! The classes are filling up. There’s still plenty of room in lots of courses, so check the website (www.capecodall.org).
Pick a course adjacent to one you have already signed up for. Save yourself a trip! Better yet, talk a friend into taking a class with you and carpool.

Our campus is happiest when lots of learners are coming and going. When it comes to membership, the more the merrier. Merry is a good way to be.
Hang around. Check out the art exhibits or browse the books in our large “little library.” Show up early or stay for lunch in the cafeteria. The food is good, reasonably priced, and it’s easy to pay with a credit card. Invite a coordinator or a classmate. Or both! We are a community of interesting people. Get to know a few more this fall.
Take advantage of our many special events. ALL offers many educational and social events throughout the year, and most are free to our members. ALL is much more than a collection of courses; the Academy exists to serve a community of lifelong learners in a variety of ways.
Can’t easily get to campus? Sign up for a Zoom course or choose a hybrid course and join your classmates in the room—or from home.
Get more involved. Coordinate a course or join a committee. There is no better way to find new friends than by working together.
Talk to us. Your suggestions, comments, kudos and complaints all shape and improve your organization.

We would like to thank our wonderful coordinators for offering us such a rich, interesting and diverse array of courses for the fall 2026 semester and extend a warm welcome to all the new coordinators to our program.

The Curriculum Committee is always looking for new and exciting courses and for new members who may have a skill, an expertise, interest or hobby they would like to share with us. We are particularly looking for conversational language courses in Portuguese, Spanish or French. Please contact the Curriculum Committee through the ALL office at 774-330-4400.
Survey to Coordinators: There is still time to complete the survey we sent to you around August 12th. Many of you have responded, but we would like more to participate in this short survey about teaching at ALL.
Coordinator Luncheon: Please mark your calendars for the fall coordinator lunch scheduled for Friday, September 25th from 11:30 a.m. -1:30 p.m. in the Atrium of the Lorusso Technology Building. More details and sign-up information will be sent to coordinators shortly.

Reflections 2027
Call for Submissions

As summer begins to wind down on Cape Cod, I begin to wonder if I took full advantage of all the Cape has to offer. Did I check out the sunrises and sunsets, especially with the drama that the Canadian wildfires provided? Did I eat enough summer treats? Did I take in the sea air? Did I avoid the traffic as only a local can? Did I invite enough company to indulge in tourist temptations? As you can see, reflection is part and parcel of fully capturing the moments that turn into memories.
And that, my friends, is what we on the Reflections team are asking you to do. We want you to plumb those memories you are so famous for. The theme for our 2027 Reflections magazine is “Colors of Our Lives.” We are soliciting submissions that speak to that theme in the ways that only you can provide.
Please send us your essays, poems, photography and artwork that illustrate the language of colors. They may be natural, rainbows, political commentary, ecological, romantic, humorous or anything else. Please use the button below to go to the website for our submission guidelines and then write your hearts out. We’ll do the rest. We look forward to hearing from you!

Super Seniors Podcast Series

As we live longer, seniors and others question their role in society and their relationships with one another. Age is more than just a number. While society often associates aging with decline, many older adults continue to contribute, create, lead, and inspire.
This podcast series, produced by ALL’s Joan Freedman and hosted by Jay Green, highlights these remarkable individuals—our Super Seniors—whose lives demonstrate that value, purpose, and achievement are not defined by chronological age. Through their stories, we challenge stereotypes and celebrate the lasting contributions of older generations.

Cape Cod Speaker Series

On Tuesday, August 25th, the Academy for Lifelong Learning partnered with the Cape Cod Speaker Series to host basketball executive Brad Stevens at the Tilden Arts Center.
A good-sized crowd gathered for an engaging presentation by the two-time NBA Executive of the Year. Drawing on stories from his remarkable career, first with Butler University and later the Boston Celtics, Stevens shared practical insights on leadership, team culture, and sustained excellence—connecting warmly with both basketball fans and non-fans alike.
Before and after the talk, ALL hosted an information display in the lobby. Volunteers handed out course catalogs and program details to an enthusiastic crowd, sparking a good amount of interest and resulting in engaging discussions with many event attendees.

A New Art Exhibit by Lawrence Brown
| | When you return to class this fall you will be greeted by a brand-new exhibit, featuring creations by our own long-time coordinator Lawrence (Larry) Brown. | | |
Larry is a longtime columnist for the Cape Cod Times and a familiar face at the Academy for Lifelong Learning, where he has served for many years as a coordinator offering a wide range of classes. Larry's collection of graphic poetry will be on display in our lobby throughout the fall semester. It features four pieces: Leaning to Fly, Here is a Tiny Goddess, I know You Must Be Curious and My Design.
