Rooted in Caring, Rising in Excellence: Our Promise

Dear Alumni and Friends,

The Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing is pleased to announce the launch of Rooted in Caring, Rising in Excellence: Our Promise—a shared direction for the college and a reflection of who we are, what we value, and where we are going together.

Built around five commitments—Empower, Become, Discover, Transform, and Lead Through Caring—Our Promise will guide our work through 2031 as we advance nursing education, research, practice, and service. I invite you to explore our shared commitments and consider the role each of us can play in bringing this promise to life.

We are also excited to unveil the new look of our newsletter. Inspired by Our Promise, this refreshed format aims to showcase how our dedicated nursing community continues to grow and inspire our Florida Atlantic community and beyond.

Go Owls!

Nursing Researcher Named 2026 VIP Seed Grant Awardee

Florida Atlantic University has named Assistant Professor Laurie Martinez, Ph.D., and her team as one of five Vertically Integrated Projects (VIP) 2026 seed grant recipients for their study, “Resilience, Innovation, Science, and Expression (RISE): From Story to Stage.” Through this interdisciplinary initiative that integrates lived experience, theater, health sciences, neuroscience, and emerging technologies, researchers aim to develop innovative approaches to advance biopsychosocial health, resilience, well-being, and meaningful community engagement across trauma-exposed and vulnerable populations.

Last fall, FAU became the first university in Florida to join the international VIP Consortium, a global network of more than 50 institutions of higher education dedicated to research-driven, cross-disciplinary learning. In alignment with FAU’s Road to R1 initiative, the VIP program is a critical part of building a high-performance, inclusive research infrastructure.
