A word about your instructor -

Barbara Goldkorn is a celebrated expert in the world of sergers, renowned for her dynamic teaching style and four decades of hands-on experience. Her passion for serging shines through in every aspect of her work, through her in-person events, and a carefully crafted line of serger-specific patterns. These patterns serve as a source of inspiration for serger enthusiasts worldwide, helping them explore the vast creative possibilities of these versatile machines.

Fall Sew Fair will be held Thursday through Saturday, November 5th, 6th and 7th. As always, more information will be provided as we get closer – save those dates!

Charity Sit & Sew: As easy as Pi..llowcases! Tuesday, September 15th, from 10:30AM to 4:30PM, join us for part of the day or all day for a “sit and sew” to support one of our favorite causes: Ryan’s Case for Smiles. A volunteer organization solely dedicated to helping kids feel better to heal better, we've been supporting them for years and are always happy to host this event! More details in the September Classes section. Save the date!

Drunkard's Path Table Runner

Achieve a Drunkard’s Path pattern without traditional piecing! The Drunkard's Path is usually a curved piecing technique, but Terry Atkinson developed a machine appliqué method to achieve the same look. This class teaches the basics of machine applique, including placement, topstitching, fusible webbing, and more!

This easy bag is fun to make and offers lots of opportunities to personalize! Choose crazy fabric, holiday fabric, or just someone’s favorite colors! Embellish with buttons or fancy stitching by machine or hand. It’s a perfect size to hold small gifts (and it’s a bonus gift by itself!). Cheryl shares the secret formula that will get all levels of sewists excited!

Ryan’s Case for Smiles

Skill Level: ALL SKILL LEVELS NEEDED!

Please join us for a day of fellowship and sewing for this worthy cause! You need not stay the whole day; drop in and stay as long as you like, and if you don't want to sew, you can volunteer to cut fabric, iron & press, or just drop off pillowcases that you've already made! If you plan to sew, please bring your machine in good working order and any notions you like to use.



We will be donating fabric to use, but of course you can bring your own! Fabrics should be 100% cotton. Look for bright, happy novelty prints. No glitter, please, or religious subjects - unless it's Halloween, always popular with the kids! Please wash the fabric before sewing using only unscented detergent or dryer sheets due to possible allergens. Instructions for making the cases can be found at the Ryan’s Case for Smiles website here.

Easy Quilt Project in a Day

Skill Level: Beginner

Class Fee: $80 (includes kit with all fabric and batting)

This is a great class for those who have not quilted before, or if you have created a top (or several) and aren't sure what to do next! Take the mystery out of the quilting process. Pat will lead you through making a simple pieced block, quilting it, and then binding it. You'll leave with a pretty table topper you'll be proud to show off as your first project - or as a gift!

A kit with all necessary fabrics is included in the class fee.

Rotary Magic with Pat Brousil

How many times have you measured twice and cut once only to accidentally make the wrong cut in your beloved fabric?? This class with Pat Brousil will teach you the many finer points of rotary cutting. You will draft and cut a variety of different shapes, including squares, rectangles, half-square triangles, quarter-square triangles, trapezoids, hexagons, and more! Join Pat and learn how to rotary cut with confidence.

Easy Holiday Table Runner

Join Cheryl for this easy table runner you can finish in a day. Use fall colors (as in our sample) or holiday colors (any holiday!) or make it scrappy with a bunch of random colors (or try black and whites!)! It's so versatile, fat quarter and leftover strip-friendly, too! Once you learn the technique, you can make a longer or wider one for that big holiday gathering! Pattern will be provided in class.

Pants Class with Pattie Otto

(Maui or Long Island Pants)

Friday, October 23rd, 10:30am-4:30pm.

Skill Level: Intermediate     

Class Fee: $60 

Pants can be so easy to sew. Let Pattie Otto show you how along with some expert fitting advice. Knit or woven fabric? The choice is yours. Great Copy Maui Pants is a full leg pant or capri designed for lightweight woven fabrics (yes, quilting cottons and batiks work well!), while the Long Island Pant is a slim leg pant for light to mid weight stable knits. Both patterns have pull-on elastic waists and slit pocket options. Pattie will have try-ons of all sizes to aid in obtaining a great fit. After pattern adjustments, layout and cutting, Pattie will help with construction including pockets, hemming and elastic waistband techniques.

Manchester Jacket Class

Class Fee: $100        

A good jacket is the pillar of any wardrobe. The Manchester Jacket by Great Copy is a stylish classic with great lines, hood or collar option, in-seam front pockets and a back seam accent. Choose from a variety of fabrics and seam finishes. Our store sample is made from pre-quilted fabric (we have some!), but you can quilt your own – ask us how! You can use denim or fleece, too! Class will include measurements to help you determine the correct size. Try-ons will be available to aid in selecting the correct size as well as any pattern alterations that are needed. Jacket construction includes layout, cutting, stabilizing facings, seaming, and hemming. You will leave with a finished jacket. Note: two-day class.

Stack & Whack Quilting - Table Runner - with Pat Brousil

Stack ‘n Whack, Stack ‘n Cut, or even One-Block Wonder – there are many terms for this fun kaleidoscope or hexagon type of quilt pattern! Pat teaches you how to layer and cut, then piece the building blocks. This method engages your eyes and creative mind as new designs emerge and change like patterns in a kaleidoscope! You’ll discuss the art and science of putting the blocks together in magical ways to make something new and wonderful out of old fabric. You will cut and piece some blocks to make a table runner in class and learn how to design a quilt top - get inspired to finish a throw or large quilt on your own!

Cheryl takes you through the pattern step by step for a fun day of holiday sewing!

Ten-Pocket Tote

Class Fee: $75 (fee includes fabric kit)

Are you new to sewing or looking for a refresher? This class will introduce you to sewing while you create a go-everywhere Ten Pocket Tote. Class includes the basics of your sewing machine: mechanics, threading, bobbin winding, and use of seam guides to sew simple seams. If you need help learning how to thread your machine, please come early at 10:15am. Those who know their machine should arrive at 10:30am. In this class, you will also select fabrics, cut out your tote and learn all about seams, hems, topstitching and attaching handles – and take home a finished tote!
