OUR MISSION:

St. Rita School inspires students in Pre-Kindergarten through grade eight to achieve academic excellence in a safe, nurturing and faith-filled Catholic environment.

We prepare students to be morally responsible, innovative thinkers who, in today’s technology-guided global community, live and share the Love of Christ.

Dear St. Rita Parents/Guardians,

Over the past few week students in grades 1-8 were administered the NWEA MAP assessments. Teachers will use the results of these assessments to plan their instruction to ensure that all our students are receiving the educational support needed to be successful this year. The results of these assessments will be shared with you at the upcoming October Parent-Teacher conferences. Please refer to the letter from our superintendent, Valerie Mara, as well as the Q & A sent out earlier this month if you have any additional questions. You may also refer to the nwea.org website to access the family toolkit for additional information.

The second Back to School/Meet the Teacher Night for parents with students in grades 4-8 will be held tomorrow, Thursday, September 22 beginning at 6:00 P.M. in the gym. The presentations are in-person only and will include a welcome from our Pastor, Fr. Tiano and overview of the upcoming HSA events. This is a parent only event, please leave your children at home.

It has been brought to my attention that a number of our students are climbing in the trees of school property and not respecting the sacredness of the two prayer gardens located on our property. Students are also running into the parking lot once the safety cones are removed. Parents are reminded that students should not be climbing trees on the school property nor should they be climbing on either of the statutes located on our property. Both statutes are located in prayerful areas and the sacredness of these areas needs to be respected. Students are also playing with the message board beneath the school sign on the hill. If you are allowing your child to play after school on school property, please be sure they are being monitored, are following the rules, and are respectful of the school property.

Our school-wide theme for the year is The St. Rita Way-His Way----Rooted in Christ. What is the St. Rita Way you ask? It is to be a respectful, responsible, kind, helpful, honest, loving, and faith-filled student. We expect all our students to follow the rules in the classroom, in the lunchroom, and out at recess. Working together (parents, teachers and students) we will continue to keep St. Rita School the place to be where the love of Christ is lived and shared.

Please be on the lookout for a number of upcoming October HSA events.  Over the next few weeks we will share the details of the Family movie night, Open HSA Parent Meeting, mum sale, and Trunk or Treat Halloween. All of these events need parent volunteer support and participation.

Thank you for entrusting your child/ren to our care. I look forward to seeing you tomorrow at Back to School/Meet the Teachers Night for parents with students in grades 4-8. Enjoy the refreshing autumnal weather.

God Bless,

Mrs. Tiezzi

Luke Hamling, a Life Scout with Boy Scout Troop 608 in Hamden, has been a scout for over eleven years, a member of St. Paul VI Parish, has served as an altar boy, and graduated from St. Rita School in 2019. His Eagle Scout project will involve renovating two of the church signs to reflect our new parish, including landscaping of those areas once the signs have been installed. He chose this project because he believes having unified signs will help with the building of community at our unified parish of St. Paul VI Parish.

To complete this project, he must raise over $9,600 in order to pay for the signs and landscaping items. He is asking the school community to assist with this effort. All monies raised will go directly to this project, and any money raised in excess of the project needs will go towards the signage needs at the other two churches which will also be renovated in the future

To help with this project please click below to contribute through his GoFundMe page.
