2027 Guatemala Interest Meeting / September 27 after worship
We are planning now for next year's mission trip to Guatemala. We will have a brief meeting after worship on Sunday, September 27 to discuss plans and gauge interest.
We want to build a house(s) and host a VBS in 2027. There is something for EVERYONE to do!

NOMINATIONS OPEN THROUGH SEPTEMBER 27
The "presbuteros", the Greek word for Elder is an essential element of our Presbyterian convictions. As part of the Reformation, Christians rebelled against the idea of a "top-down" hierarchy of church governance, and upheld the belief that since the Holy Spirit came at Pentecost and filled believers with the Spirit and Spiritual Gifts, the people of the church are equipped and called to lead the church. That conviction continues in our modern practice of nominations, where we as YOU the congregation, to prayerfully discern those among us who you feel God has equipped and called to lead the church as officers, (Elders and Deacons).
Through the month of September we are asking you to fill out a nominations ballot, which can be found on the AV booth or Welcome Desk on Sunday mornings, and then return it to the offering plate or the deposit box outside the office.
GRIEF SHARE is a wonderful ministry for those working through the grieving process. A new session of Grief Share will begin on Saturday, October 3 and run through November 14. The group will meet from 10:00-12:00 at the church. For more information, please contact Debbie Brown 704-516-9578.

Kelly Simmons and her husband Greg have four children. This is Kelly's second term serving as a Deacon at Southminster.
After her first time, Kelly had been praying for the opportunity to serve again as a Deacon, but she was expecting it to come in a year or two. When asked to serve she trusted in God's timing and call.
Kelly said her greatest joy as a Deacon is getting to know the members of the congregation on a deeper level, and forming relationships with individuals and their families.

Our Gideon Goal for 2026 is to reduce our facility debt to $800,000.00. This gives us a few financial advantages with our lender. At the end of July our balance was: $870,219.96
