FIRST FLIGHT NEWS...

We celebrated North Carolina Biotechnology Center’s 40th Anniversary!

Honoring Norris Tolson, former FFVC Board member, as an Order of the Long Leaf Pine recipient, the state’s highest honor!

Special shoutout to Rukiyah VanDross-Anderson, who rocked the stage as the entrepreneur speaker! She’s an alum of First Flight’s FAST program and the perfect example of success!

First Flight's Ashley Davis and Emil Runge had a very cool opportunity to tour the incredible North Carolina Global TransPark following the Defense Manufacturing Community Support Program (DMCSP) Advisory Board meeting!

First Flight’s Krista Covey had the pleasure of serving on the Funding Ocean Innovations panel at UNC Wilmington’s Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the Ocean Innovations Conference.

🎤 Moderated by Randall Johnson, Executive Director of North Carolina Biotechnology Center (NCBiotech)'s Southeastern Office, the panel included inspiring insights from fellow experts mark huang, Founder & Managing Partner of SeaAhead, Inc., and How to Fund Seed-Stage Startups with Venture Capital's Ruminder (Romi) Dhillon.

Very cool Itineraries Science Talk with Graham Crispin of Graham Allen Associates!

Graham Allen Associates is a Business and Technology Consulting Practice that brings Software Defined Antenna (Quantum Rydberg) Radio [SDAR] to: Defense, Medical Imaging, Satellite, and Telecommunications. Graham provided a fascinating discussion making analogies including cigar smoke for diffusion!

What an amazing day we had at First Flight's 2024 NC SBIR Showcase!

We kicked off the event with SBA’s Elden Hawkes, and it only got better from there! The “Timely & Timeless Investor Insights” panel was truly exceptional. A huge thank you to Shawna Cannon Lemon, Robbie Hardy, Lister Delgado, Pat Gouhin, and moderator Mary Musacchia for sharing your invaluable expertise!

Randy Simpson of TechOpp, Inc. delivered fantastic insights on SBIR TABA (Technical and Business Assistance) funding, which was a major highlight!

We also had a stellar SBIR Resources panel, “Grind & Grit — Winning SBIRs is Hard and These Partners Can Help with The Journey.” Special thanks to Eva Garland, PhD, John Hardin, PhD, Ramya Vijapurapu, and Andrea Giska, PhD, for your incredible knowledge and support of the entrepreneurial community.

Thank you to all the innovators, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders who joined us for the day!

A HUGE shoutout to our sponsors Dave Oury with Medical Leverage and Randy Simpson with TechOpp, Inc. We couldn’t have done it without you!

We had a full house at our Lunch & Learn with Siemens’ Xcelerator program for startups. We’ve partnered with Siemens to offer startups their industry-leading CAD and simulation software at massively reduced prices — over 90% reduction for early-stage startups as compared to the enterprise pricing. In addition, Hangar6 will soon have their CAD and simulation software available for members to use alongside our other design and fabrication tools.

Look for Siemens' software at Hangar6's exhibitor table at the 2024 High Flyer Awards Luncheon on November 1st! 🎉

Thank you, Kevin Blevins, Katherine Cerrone, and Jim Gernatt, Jr.
