IOWA TESTING

Monday, October 4th through Friday, October 9th grades 3-8 will take the Iowa Assessment. There are a number of ways you can support your child before and after testing. It is important to remember the following points to ensure that your child is functioning at full capacity:

  • Make sure your child gets plenty of sleep.
  • Wake up at a good time so as not to be rushed.
  • Eat a healthy breakfast.
  • Arrive on time to school.
  • Stay home if you feel sick (make-ups will take place the following week).
  • Encourage your student(s) to do their best, but don't stress.
  • Pray with your child(ren) in confidence, and remind him/her that testing is just one part of their total education
  • Please contact Mrs. Garner at 636-8922 ext 327 if you have questions.

Monday, October 4th- Thursday, October 8th, students are allowed to wear Spirit Wear with uniform bottoms. Friday, October 9th, will be a dress down day for all in celebration of completing testing week! Please avoid scheduling appointments during testing week.

Preschool parents with older students, please ONLY clock in your preschool children at

morning drop off.

IMPORTANT: Please send an email to bbartow@stpeterjc.org if your child(ren) will

NOT be in ASC. You should include, attendance and teacher(s). Also, if you are

sending someone to pick up your child(ren) from Aftercare and they are NOT on the

pick-up list, please send an email letting us know it is ok to send your child with them.

WE MUST HAVE IT IN WRITING. Thank you.

You may have noticed a large orange and white barrier blocking off the big flat and alley

as you were picking up from ASC. This is part one of the new Parking Plan we’ve been

working on. The next step is to fence off the small playground. I am not sure when that

will be complete, but the idea is that when we are done, we will leave the IN gate open

and you’ll have the five handicap parking spaces to use for Aftercare pick up. I will keep

you posted.

If you need to reach Aftercare, you may call (573) 636-8922, extension 129 or email

Betsy Bartow, Aftercare Director at bbartow@stpeterjc.org.

St Peter Catholic School is looking for a volunteer that would like to take on the Bellarmine Speech League for any St. Peter student that would like to participate. If interested please reach out to

Karina or Dr. Trachsel at gtrachsel@stpeterjc.org for more information.

We still have yearbooks from last year! They are $22 each, email awarner@stpeterjc.org to get yours!

The next blog post in my series about home internet safety talks about parental controls. They might sound intimidating, but they're actually quite easy!

One parental control you can start today is talking with your child about what exactly they do on their device? What do they enjoy learning about or watching? What kind of apps or games do they use most often and why? And then bring that into a conversation about their brain and how it sometimes gets tricked by devices to think its happy and needs more excitement (dopamine) but it never lasts long. Explain to them how its important to feel bored so that they can grow their creativity and encourage them to show you things they like to do offline. This not only brings you into their world, but brings you both closer together.

Quick Reference Guide to the Diocese of Jefferson City Stewardship Model

Catholic Stewardship Renewal/Time and Talent Form

TO BE AN “ACTIVE” CATHOLIC STEWARD MEANS:

  • To Pray: that is, attend Mass faithfully in the parish on weekends and Holy Days.
  • To Participate: that is, to use one’s time and talents to strengthen the parish community and advance the Gospel.
  • To Sacrificially Give: that is, pledge and remain current on a tithe of financial first fruits to support the life and ministries of the parish. The goal is 8% to the parish and 2% to other worthy charities.
