NURSE'S CORNER
We are blessed to have knowledgeable and caring nurses in our congregation! They have some words of advice for us:
Head Lice are little animals that feed on the scalp of humans, mainly children. It is spread by the sharing of head coverings or by coming into contact with a person's long hair. The eggs are called 'nits' and attach to a strand of hair. The adults are small crawling worm like creatures.
You should talk to your doctor or a pharmacist about the current products available to treat the lice. You will need to use a "nit comb," a very fine toothed comb, which will capture the eggs from the hair strands. It's one of those "rite of passage" parental activities.
Because head lice don't survive long if they fall off a person and can't feed, once you have treated your child, they should put on clean clothes. Machine wash and dry clothing and bed linens using hot water, and a high heat drying cycle. If you have items that can't be washed, place them in plastic bags for 2 weeks. If you continue to see evidence of lice, call your doctor before retreating.
We are coming to the season of warm head coverings, so don't share hats with anyone!! Thankfully, head lice are generally only an inconvenience, not harmful to general health.

Remember to pray for these nurses and all those on the front lines fighting the coronavirus.
