A Message from the Principal of Student Life and Mission: |
Dear Carondelet Community,
A little over a week ago, I helped chaperone the class of 2028’s first Carondelet Retreat, Alpha (see photos here). I love helping out at this retreat as it’s full of fun, community, and introduces the youngest class to the mission of the school and the charism of the CSJ Sisters. Whether through learning another’s name in an icebreaker activity, creating a collaged mask representing themselves, dancing with classmates at the dance party, singing songs around the campfire, or sharing what they’ve learned at a final reflection circle—frosh begin to discover some things about themselves, their classmates, God’s love for them, and what it means to be a positive and cherished community member. It’s an introduction to the CSJ charism of unifying love.
There are many Carondelet traditions that call students, faculty, and staff to “love of God and love of neighbor.” In a week the junior class will receive their class rings in their Junior Ring Ceremony. This celebration and the concrete symbol of the class ring reinforce the bond of Sisterhood as well as the guiding ISOs of Heart, Faith, Courage, and Excellence that are a part of school life both inside and outside of the classroom. Fall athletic teams are holding SOS (Support Our Sisters) games where students, faculty, and staff recognize the efforts and accomplishments of our athletes by coming out to cheer them on. Later in October, Homecoming and all of the activities of Homecoming Week will be enjoyed. The Crowning of the Homecoming Court, which recognizes Carondelet seniors who exhibit Faith, Leadership, Character, Service, Spirit, and the qualities of a Humanitarian, is a cherished tradition that highlights students who respond to the needs of the times and make a positive difference. These are only three of many traditions that celebrate and reinforce our school mission.
This year Campus Ministry has led the school in reflecting on the CSJ Maxims. They call this “Maxim Mondays.” I’d like to end this with Maxim 19 - Trust and cherish God’s love threading through all the events of everyday life. In our Carondelet traditions as well as in everyday life here at school, our Carondelet community seeks to do just that.

Academics & Academic & Learning Support
Peer Tutors available
NHS Peer Tutoring Program is up and running for this school year! With over 100 members of the National Honor Society (NHS) participating, we have a wide variety of students with expertise in multiple subjects and academic levels who are eager to assist their peers. Need A Tutor? (Form for any student looking for a peer tutor). Additionally, NHS tutors will be present at PowerLab every Monday through Thursday in the Library. If you have a student who would benefit from extra help, please remind them that a tutor specializing in Science, Math, and Language Arts will be available each day during PowerLab.
Information About Upcoming PSAT for Juniors
Juniors will be taking the PSAT on Wednesday, October 16. The PSAT is a practice run for the SAT and can help students strategize for their college application process. This is the second year that the PSAT will be fully online. This is also a practice run for AP testing with many tests moving online this year.
This means, our juniors need to get their school-issued iPads ready to go! Families will receive more communication about this so you can prepare and make sure your students have everything ready for a smooth testing experience in October.
Free Tool for Test Prep
Since standardized testing is on the agenda, we want to acknowledge that this is not a student’s favorite thing. Sadly, getting used to the tests and being proactive is key. Many families opt to pay for outside crash courses. Carondelet provides a free resource open to all students for PSAT/SAT/ACT practice. It is Albert.io. Students log in using their Carondelet email. Here are some direct links for some diagnostics through the system.

AP Exam Payment Information
Parents and guardians of students enrolled in Advanced Placement (AP) classes will receive a communication this week with directions on how to pay for the 2025 AP Exams. Please be on the lookout for the email and be sure to review all the information as there is updated information regarding the payment process for students attending AP classes at De La Salle.
