H.O.P.E. University Resumes September 15th
H.O.P.E. University's Fall Semester begins September 15th, with a class called "Go Take a Hike" led by Pastor Dean Piper.
Go Take a Hike will explore the footsteps of many Biblical heroes and their explorations through new and unknown territories in the Promised Land. Hundreds of years before Jesus sent the disciples to the
far-flung places of the earth, God was choosing leaders and sending them to establish and maintain “the promised land.”
Each week we will concentrate on the footsteps of one, two or more people, construct a geographic overview and see the results of their endeavors. While God directed many people to go take a hike, we will focus on a famous few.
H.O.P.E. University will meet on Wednesdays at 10:00am at Hope Central Campus. As always, we encourage you to invite friends who are not Hope members. This is an excellent opportunity to grow your faith and fellowship with friends.

A Thank You from Love INC
A big Thank You to all of the Hope members who supported Clothe-A-Kid this year! Here are just a couple of stories from the shoppers:
"Love INC’s Clothe-A-Kid is destined to be one of my fondest memories of volunteering. I met a dedicated, loving father who is raising five children on his own. Each child had their own personality and their love for their dad was very evident. Through the Comprehensive Transformational Ministry, dad was able to clothe his children with necessary items as they start a new year. The joy on their faces as they were able to choose their own items brought a smile to my face. God was truly with us and I wish each child a safe and satisfying new school year." ~ Cyndi Crutchfield
"The Clothe-A-Kid program with Love INC was such a pleasant experience for me and the smiles on the children’s faces gave my heart so much joy. I have every intention of volunteering again next year. We two volunteers helped a family of 5 children choose their school clothes for this year. They were very well behaved and this is an experience I will always treasure. Christ truly is at work in this organization." ~ Dottie Blankenship

What Does It Take to Have a Worship Service?
What does it take to have a worship service? First, the pastors consult the lectionary and develop a schedule for preaching and topics. They prepare their sermons. The custodians clean and sanitize the worship space. The staff prepares worship slides, the sanctuary signs, the volunteer lists, and materials for each campus. The Altar Angels prepare the communion elements and the Communion Servers train on serving the worshippers.
In the busy season, the parking lot attendants help you find a place for your cart or car. The Greeters don a big smile and prepare the bar-code scanners to take attendance. The worship assistants and Pastoral Care Pastors prepare to help lead the service. The ushers receive final instructions from the pastor and take positions to make worshippers feel safe and welcome. The First-Time Welcoming Team is in the lobby to greet newcomers. The A/V team launches livestreaming, orchestrates lights and sounds, and presents slides for worshippers. Finally, our pastors take to the pulpits at each campus to present their sermons for the week, leading our church with strong teaching and encouragement.
All of this happens seven times every week! And the music? Cathy Daley will describe the numerous musical activities that are fundamental to our worship experience in the next issue.
On behalf of the Church Council, we want to sincerely thank all the folks whose skills, dedication, and love of the Lord contribute to your meaningful worship experiences at Hope. While you are waiting for the service to begin, offer a THANK YOU prayer for them. See you next Saturday or Sunday.
And thank you for observing COVID protocols.
Is now the time to find out which volunteer position is meant for you? Is God calling you to ministry? If you would like to talk to someone about the many ways to serve, please call me.
