Hello Spartan Families!
We are excited to share a unique opportunity for our students and community. On Friday, September 20th, our parish will be blessed with The Visit of the Apostle of the Impossible: Tour of the Relics of Saint Jude the Apostle. This special event, which has drawn significant crowds at other locations, will include the veneration of the relic of Saint Jude, an evening Mass, and a closing veneration.
Several months ago, Father John Paul, on behalf of Father Jim, requested that Fr. Martins considered adding Saint Michael Parish to the tour schedule. We are thrilled to announce that he has agreed, and Saint Michael's is now on the tour itinerary!
To accommodate this extraordinary event, there will be a 1:00 PM early dismissal for all students on Friday, September 20th. This decision has been made for the following reasons:
- Safety Considerations: Veneration of the relic will begin at 2:00 PM and is open to the public. Given the popularity of this event, people may start lining up as early as 1:00 PM. We anticipate large crowds on campus, and our priority is to ensure the safety and security of our students and community members.
- Special Access for SMPS Students: Father Martins has graciously agreed to open veneration early, exclusively for our Saint Michael Parish School students. This private veneration will not be open to the public, allowing our students a quiet and reverent opportunity to experience this special event.
We want to inform you that after-school extended care will be available for those who are registered. If you have registered for drop-in care and plan to utilize extended care on September 20th, please email your child’s homeroom teacher and attendance@stmikesolympia.org.
Additionally, we wish to provide a cautionary note for all visitors, as stated on the tour website:
WARNING TO ALL VISITORS: It has become common for sidewalk vendors to sell what seem like religious articles (rosaries, statues, bracelets, etc.) at the Saint Jude expositions. At least some of these vendors have been witches selling cursed objects that look like religious objects. Many lie and claim they are part of Fr. Martins’ team or are with the parish.
We look forward to welcoming the relic of Saint Jude and sharing this special experience with our students and community. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us.
Blessings,
Father Jim and Mrs. Dana Lashley
