AUGUST 22, 2024

Dear First Congregational Church,

As the summer draws to a close, we are looking forward to resuming a FULL church schedule on Sunday, September 8th. It’s also a special day, so we’re sending you this invitation, so that you can make plans to be with us!

First, we are thrilled to announce that our plans for a new church website are rapidly moving forward. We are now at a point where we need the help of the whole congregation! Staff from Theory One design will be at the church with photographers on Saturday, September 7 and Sunday, September 8 to capture the images we need to make our website not just a more functional tool for our communication, but more fully, a fresh and inviting reflection of the vibrancy of our life together, a beautiful expression of our story and the good news of our faith and witness.

We will introduce the folks from Theory One to you on the morning of the 8th, and they say we won’t notice their presence too much the rest of the morning. Gathering excellent photographs and video of you is essential to this project. We have seen mock-ups of the new website with photos from other churches, and we are looking forward to seeing the active life of our congregation reflected in the faces we know and love.” You can see what we mean by looking at another website Theory One developed. Check them out here... First Church Cambridge or Rock Spring UCC

Still, if you prefer that a photo of you not show up on the website, a sign-up sheet will be available in the Narthex and Link, so that you can notify us of your wishes. A portion of the sanctuary will also be designated for those who do not wish to be photographed.

Please plan to be present! Wear solid colors or quiet prints. Thank you in advance for your participation, your cooperation, and your patience as Theory One moves among us to do all the things they do best!

8:30 am Worship in the Chapel

Contemplative Prayer with poetry and Scripture readings, Taizé chant, extended moments of silence, and the sacrament of holy communion.

9:15 am Right Relationship Boulder Forum in Plymouth Hall

Representatives from Right Relationship Boulder will be with us to speak about Boulder connections to the Sand Creek massacre of Arapaho and Cheyenne people in 1864. Don’t miss this opportunity to participate in the preparations for the church’s racial justice pilgrimage to Sand Creek and other sites in late October.

10:30 am Worship in the Sanctuary and Online

Gather Us In! A festive All Ages Worship Service of joy with communion, choir anthems, and an encore performance from the Arts Camp summer theme song!

11:45 am A Native American Feast at Foothills Community Park

Join us after worship for a church picnic of traditional Osage recipes and ingredients, catered by Tocabe American Indian Eatery in Denver. The menu will include Indian fry bread, wild rice, corn and tomato salsas, black and pinto beans, and shredded bison. Vegan and gluten-free options will be available. We’ll meet in the shelter at Foothills Community Park, 800 Cherry Avenue next to the playground. Face painting, balloon animals, good food, and great company!

We do hope you will join us! This day of worship, food, fellowship, festivities, and photos won’t be the same without you!

With thanksgiving for you,

Chris, Linda, Kajsa, Anne, Lianna, Sam, Julie, Angie, and Christopher
