The 'Put Your $ Where Your Heart Is' campaign has launched in Airdrie to encourage support for our local shops, restaurants and services.
Watch for a social media and online marketing platform EatStayPlayAirdrie' that will roll out into the Fall. In October the focus will shift to an online contest for local shoppers with weekly prizes leading up to a grand prize draw on 'Shop Small Saturday' November 28, 2020. One local Airdrie business will also be drawn to win a $10,000 marketing package.

Government of Canada Announces Plan to Help Support Canadians Through the Next Phase of the Recovery
The federal government announced its intention to make changes to simplify EI applications, extend the Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) an additional four weeks, and introduce three new benefit programs to take the place of the CERB once it expires: the Canada Recovery Benefit, the Canada Recovery Sickness Benefit, and the Canada Recovery Caregiving Benefit. The new benefit programs require legislative approval.
Canada Revenue Agency Opens Applications for Enhanced Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy
 
The Canada Revenue Agency opened applications for CEWS period 5 – the first period of the enhanced program. Program changes for Periods 5-9 include: 
·    The extension of the CEWS until November 21, 2020.
·    Increased eligibility, meaning that all eligible employers who've experienced a revenue drop can now qualify for a base subsidy.
·    Employers who are especially hard-hit can qualify for a top-up of up to 25%. 

ARPA COVID Resilience Grant

The Alberta Recreation and Parks Association is offering a new COVID-19 resilience stream grant. With a maximum allocation of $339,785,704, the grant is aimed at increasing federal cost-share for a broad range of infrastructure projects and a simplifying the approval process to allow work to get underway quickly. Expanding COVID-19 testing for asymptomatic Albertans
 
More than 50 Shoppers Drug Mart and Loblaw pharmacies in Real Canadian Superstore locations are already offering asymptomatic testing, and by September 1, 2020 all 234 of the company’s pharmacies in Alberta (including pharmacies at Independent Foods, Extra Foods, City Market, and No Frills) will offer asymptomatic COVID-19 testing.
Local Business Support Extended
The Right for Business Support Program has been extended until November 2020. This program is intended to provide Airdrie businesses with access to critical advisors and business service professionals to help them remain resilient through the COVID-19 pandemic.
