Message from the Assistant Director,
Alumni Development

Dear LBCC Alumni Community,

I want to start off my address to you to let you know that this is my last week as Assistant Director, Alumni Development. I have enjoyed working with the LBCC community these past five years. It has been my pleasure to work with such dedicated professionals committed to engaging and growing our alumni family.

I am proud of the accomplishments that the Alumni Association has made this past year. Since November, our membership has more than doubled and we had a record number of recent graduates reach out to us and express interest in taking advantage of their complimentary first year membership.  I feel confident this is as a result of various outreach efforts, such as our monthly e-newsletter, alumni community survey, on-campus tabling, event participation, and providing a fun and engaging graduation rehearsal party this past June.

We still have a long way to go, but this is a great start. I am confident my successor, Paula Barrow, has the skills and commitment to carry on the momentum and take the LBCC Alumni Association to new heights. Paula brings years of event planning and community leadership experience to the position along with a positive and enthusiastic commitment to engaging LBCC alumni.  You can reach Paula at [email protected] or (562) 938-4317.

Thank you for all your support.  I look forward to continuing to give back to the Long Beach City College in a new capacity.  I hope to see most of you at the LBCC 2018 Hall of Fame banquet on October 17 th!

Go Vikings!

Jennifer Bourgeois
We are less than one month away from this year's Alumni Hall of Fame induction ceremony. It will be a night to remember as we celebrate the accomplishments of Viking Alumni Dee Andrews, Stephen Bowles, John Fylpaa, and Janeen Steel at The Grand on Wednesday, October 17th. We hope to see you there!
Speaking of the Alumni Hall of Fame, we invited our four inductees to a luncheon on campus this month. It was a great chance for the honorees to catch up and reminisce on their time as Vikings. Held at The Bistro on the Liberal Arts Campus, the only thing better than the food was getting a chance to see our soon-to-be Hall of Famers spend some quality time together. Here are some great shots of the event taken by Jerome Thomas.
Please join us and support our Vikings football team as they take on the Renegade Knights of Bakersfield College in a rematch of the 2017 Patriot Bowl. Long Beach and Bakersfield have recently renewed their historic rivalry, as we've faced off (and won!) in Bowl Games the past two seasons. It's sure to be an exciting game!Tickets are available in person at the stadium, and are free for Alumni Association members, $10 for General Admission, $5 for high school or college students with ID and Seniors, and $3 for kids 12 and under.
There's still time to support the Long Beach Camerata Singers and the Long Beach City College Alumni Association by signing up for a season subscription online! If you type in LBCCAlum in the "How did you hear about the concerts" field, they will donate $10 to the Alumni Association in your honor. Support the Arts and Support LBCC Alumni!
