September 2018

Dear Concordia Alumna/us,

We did it!  Unofficially, we welcomed a record number of freshmen to our campus on August 27th. Thank you for your help in sharing the positive things happening at CUAA. The most powerful testimonies come from the alumni of an institution. I've had such fun meeting you throughout my travels and events! Your stories give me inspiration (and material to share with the "new" kids). From all of us to you--thank you! Keep the stories coming to me and to the prospective students!

In His Service,

Save the Date for Alumni Homecoming and Service Day
Saturday, October 13

BE the tradition!  Join your fellow alumni for a day of service, fellowship, food, fun, and football at Homecoming 2018.

Start the day with an act of service -- sing along with seniors from the community and area Lutheran churches who are invited to join us in the chapel for a hymn sing. It's as easy as finding a spot in the pew next to someone and enjoying fellowship through music and conversation.  Campus Pastor Ryan Peterson and Director of Choirs Brian Altevogt will lead us in worship through song.

Alumni, come back for another fantastic Homecoming lineup!  Tailgating starts at 10:30 am under the Manor Tent. Enjoy a complimentary hot dog/chips/drink lunch, visit the alumni table to pick up your complimentary wristband for the game (alumni only), and sign the DECADE CHALLENGE board (are the 2010s going to win AGAIN this year?). Take your kids to the always popular Corky's Kid Zone. Hang out on campus again and visit your favorite places. Head over to the special alumni bleacher section before the 1 pm football game kickoff, and be sure to pick up alumni giveaways and sign up for drawings at our table on the concourse. After the game, STAY!  We have a section at Guy Hollerin's in the Holiday Inn Ann Arbor, reserved for capping off the day with fellowship and reminiscing. More information and registration here

Summer work on the new track and field complex is scheduled for completion at the end of September. Landscaping and signage will finish the project. Reserve Thursday, October 25, at 2:30 pm for the dedication and celebration of this most recent generous gift to our campus!  We will have a special alumni presence! A New Scholarship Program for Alumni

The "Live Uncommon" ideal is not designed simply to be aesthetic or esoteric. Concordia recognizes that today, more than ever, the cost of higher education and the return on that investment are legitimate concerns. While we certainly navigate the propositions of affordability and value with our traditional undergraduate students, we strongly seek to show our deep connection and commitment to a far greater segment of the population. We Had a Great Summer! Thanks for Joining Us!

Thanks for spending time with your alma mater and your former classmates this summer. We certainly made a lot of great memories.  Even though the air is becoming cooler, that doesn't mean the fun has to end. Please watch this newsletter and Facebook for upcoming events. Until then, enjoy these photos from the summer.

2018-19 Academic Theme - More than Conquerors
.... No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.  For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
