Our Media Arts Resources are organized by grade level, helping students of all ages create inspiring, hero-themed films. Be sure to submit your work to the MY HERO International Film Festival to compete for Awards and cash prizes. Winning films are shared, online, with MY HERO's global learning community.

Sing for Hope - Music Video Award

The MY HERO Project is happy to announce a new film festival award category, sponsored by Sing for Hope, a nonprofit organization that calls upon the power of music and the arts to uplift and inspire communities around the world. The new MHIFF Sing For Hope Music Video Award will recognize outstanding contributions of songwriters, who use their creative talents to shed light on inspiring heroes — everyday citizens, remarkable acts of kindness, or individuals and communities who have overcome adversity through creative endeavours.

'WOJ' Youth Reporter Video Award

October 1, 2023 is the deadline for the 'WOJ' Youth Reporter Award. This annual award, sponsored by educator Esther Wojcicki, is presented at the film festival to middle and high school students who share inspiring short films with a theme of heroism. The winning filmmakers will share up to $2,000 in cash prizes. Submit your film today!

The Sing for Hope Music Video Award and 'WOJ' Student Reporter Award are two of many Special Awards that come with cash prizes. Other awards include the Eva Haller Women Transforming Media Award, the Ron Kovic Peace Prize, the Dan Eldon Activist Award, the Relationships First Award, and the Sylvia Earle Ocean Conservation Award.

Middle and High School Essay Contest

Deadline Dec. 1st

Middle and High School students — share your stories of the heroes in your communities through our essay contest. Essays should focus on an individual, or an organization, making a positive contribution. Deadline - December 1st.  Learn more.
