CJ Bright Futures
Welcome to our new Coordinator!
Jeni Driskill has joined the Carl Junction School District staff as the new Bright Futures Coordinator. She has already helped to coordinate the school supply distribution for students-in-need and is working to establish the Weekend Food Pack and Bulldog Buddy programs for this school year.

Driskill replaces Meggan Hall who filled the coordinator’s position for last school year and gave two prior years of service to the program as an AmeriCorps Vista volunteer.

Peanut Butter Donations

Special thanks to Melissa, Mike, and Sandy at Community Bank and Trust's Carl Junction Branch and the community members who pitched in to help us collect peanut butter for the Weekend Food Pack program. Your generosity helps to provide a healthy source of protein for children in need. Thanks again for helping us to "spread the love".

If you are interested in making a donation of peanut butter- stop by the bank with your jar or donation for this great program.

CJ welcomes MSSU Junior Interns
A selection of students from Missouri Southern are enriching their education by completing a Junior Internship program in conjunction with Carl Junction Schools. In late August, the group of college students spent time training in our policies and procedures, touring the buildings, and meeting administration.

These interns, now trained, have been placed in classroom settings, to get an immersive understanding of a teacher's life before next year when they begin their student teaching.

This is the first cohort group of this type in the area. These MSSU students had to apply for and be selected into the program.

Bulldog Eclipse Experiences

Students of all ages experienced the solar eclipse that took place on August 21.

The school provided students with approved eyewear:
  • The K-1 students took turns with an adult staff member/volunteer glancing at the phenomenon
  • The 2-3 and Intermediate students did a longer viewing and many classrooms integrated a whole STEM process including charting and documenting
  • Junior High and High School students had a great view from Bulldog Stadium.

Thank you to everyone who made this possible for our kids!
World class trophies earned by archers
The CJ High School Archery team brought home a pair of trophies from the National Archery in the Schools World Tournament and 3d Challenge, held in Orlando, Florida over the summer.

The Bulldogs took second place in 3D targets, and third in Bullseye.

Three of our archers placed in the top 10 individually in both the 3D challenge, and the Bullseye competition.

Right on target team, great work!
