GLEN PATH UPDATE

Restoration of the Glen Path is scheduled to officially begin September 16th! Please be aware that out of concern for your safety, the path will be closed from September 16th through Monday, the 23rd. Access to the path at the north end will pretty much be blocked by a dumpster, but it will be placed in such a way that vehicles can pass on the roadways unimpeded.

This initial work involves the removal of non-native, undesirable and invasive plants primarily: ivy, laurel, blackberry, bamboo, and holly. Although much of the work will be done by hand, a small motorized, rubber-treaded Bobcat will be used in the clearing effort. It could become noisy at times, but labor will conform to designated construction hours (7:00 am to 6:00 pm M-F / Saturday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm)

One of the great features of this phase will be the establishment two parking spaces at the south end! The soggy ground will be scraped away and replaced by a six-inch layer of gravel.

A water spigot will be installed at the south end before the re-landscaping effort begins in mid-October.

After all of this time and effort, it will be great to see the new plants start showing off come Spring!

COMPREHENSIVE PLAN UPDATE

The Town of Beaux Arts Village is undertaking a periodic review and update of its Comprehensive Plan, as required by the Washington State Growth Management Act (GMA), RCW 36.70A.130(5). The Comprehensive Plan sets the community's 20-year vision for future growth and development. It serves as a collective vision and provides a roadmap for future decision-making to ensure the Town of Beaux Arts Village remains an attractive and safe environment for the enjoyment of all its citizens. The Plan guides Town decisions by setting goals and objectives across several essential growth topics, ensuring that new development aligns with the community's values and identity, while meeting requirements of state and federal laws. Visit the 2024 Comprehensive Plan Update page to learn more and view the most current draft of the plan. The next opportunity for public comment will be at the September Council meeting on 9/10 at 6pm. If you are unable to attend the meeting, comments can also be submitted ahead of time by emailing town staff.

COUNCIL BUSINESS

The Council did not meet in August. Their next meeting will be on September 10th and will start one hour earlier at 6pm to allow for plenty of time for the Comprehensive Plan review.
